Moving on from the pandemic-created mental health crisis is a difficult but important process

MALIBU, CA / ACCESSWIRE / November 23, 2021 / The COVID-19 pandemic has wreaked havoc on the mental health of people all over the world. Collectively, the world has been through 18 months of loss, and almost half of the adult population is reportedly experiencing mild to severe signs of depression.

According to the CDC, during August 2020-February 2021, the percentage of adults with recent symptoms of an anxiety or a depressive disorder increased from 36.4% to 41.5%, and the percentage of those reporting unmet mental health care needs increased from 9.2% to 11.7%.

Mental health professionals are working diligently to help people deal with the loss and grief due to COVID-19. Spiritual Health Coach Francisca Bronwyn of blisskeys.com says, "the ability to manage grief is critical in preventing depression, post-traumatic stress, and other mental health conditions.

Bronwyn has firsthand experience in coping with traumatic loss. "I lost my sister to breast cancer, and three years later, I lost my mother to bone cancer. After my sister's death, I knew I had to make a choice. It was either I lose myself to depression or to live for two. I chose to do the latter in honor of my sister's love for life."

Bronwyn created blisskeys.com's approach to healing deep-seated emotional trauma with a focus on getting to the root core of grief. Bronwyn says trying to ignore grief is a mistake. When grieving, people usually just get on with life. They believe they need to "be strong" for others. They may have conversations about what they are going through, but merely talking about the loss won't heal them at the core. We have to go deeper. When our grief is not healed, we may devote ourselves unconditionally to other goals in life like workaholism, but then we run the risk of burning out and getting stuck with broken relationships because we are not well enough."

She adds, "it is important to honor the grieving process as a way to move through the pain and beyond it. We need to feel to heal."

The COVID-19 pandemic is showing signs of winding down. Post-pandemic times offer an opportunity to see and experience the world in a new way. Bronwyn says healing will open the door for those who want to embrace the new world. "Healing brings freedom for women and men to harness the power of their hearts, discover their ultimate selves, and share their gifts with the world."
