Digital collectables studio adopting carbon-neutral blockchain solution and joining Pandas International's fight to save the Giant Panda
SINGAPORE / ACCESSWIRE / September 22, 2021 / Being responsible stewards of the environment is a guiding principle for Chronicle, the studio and digital collectables marketplace platform built entirely for fans. The studio's two newest partnerships showcase their climate commitment.
Although Chronicle was built to be blockchain-agnostic, the company exclusively utilizes blockchain networks driven by eco-friendlier Proof of Stake systems, as opposed to carbon-heavy Proof of Work solutions. Going forward, Chronicle will be utilizing the NEAR Protocol to serve as the backbone of its infrastructure.
NEAR Protocol aims to reduce its net carbon emissions to zero by also supporting tree planting projects around the world. It recently received South Pole's Carbon Neutral Product label for its efforts, which include offsetting carbon emissions through three main projects: Kariba Forest Protection in Zimbabwe, Vegachi Forest Restoration in Colombia, and Afognak Forest Carbon in Alaska.
"Climate change solutions in blockchain are needed now more than ever," said Yessin Schiegg, CFO at NEAR Foundation. "This collaboration shows how NEAR's pioneering technology combined with Chronicle's initiative is not only pushing the boundaries of digital collectibles but also producing measurable positive impacts for the greater good of the planet."
Chronicle is also partnering with Pandas International, a global nonprofit working to ensure the preservation of the endangered Giant Panda's habitat and population, to create and sell a series of NFTs to be minted as digital twins of the count of pandas at the time of the last census. Each Pandas International NFT will be limited in issuance with proceeds from the NFT sale going to support the cause. 180 NFTs will be minted at $75 each for the initial drop supporting Pandas International, which are available now on Chronicle.
"Pandas International is focused on panda conservation and has recently increased our focus on wild pandas and reintroduction of captive born pandas into the wild to improve the gene pool.
With approximately 1864 pandas left in the wild, partnering with a company concerned about preserving the planet for the pandas was an exciting opportunity. Habitat preservation is a critical aspect of protecting the pandas." commented Suzanne Braden, founder of Pandas International.
"We've partnered with these organizations because we all share a common goal: to preserve this beautiful planet we all live on. NEAR has worked very hard to become carbon neutral through its forest restoration projects, and Pandas International's efforts to educate the public about the Giant Panda's disappearing habitat has raised awareness all over the world. Good things happen when missions align, and that's exactly what we're doing through these partnerships," said Tim Glover, Chronicle Co-founder.
