Michael Cortese of NobleSpirit and Charles Epting of HR Harmer Win American Philatelic Society’s Coveted Digital Philately Award 2021

Friday, 12 February 2021 08:50 AM

PITTSFIELD, NH / ACCESSWIRE / February 12, 2021 / On February 12th, 2021 the American Philatelic Society (APS) announced the winners of their annual Chatty awards in a livestreamed virtual award ceremony. Among the award winners was the weekly video/audio podcast Conversations with Philatelists, taking home the Digital Philately award. This marks the second award win for the podcast in the span of just a couple months, having won a Philatelic Traders' Society award in December 2020 for Creative Concept of the Year. With 37 episodes to date and just under a year in production, many in the stamp community regard the podcast as an exciting new philatelic resource of influence and innovation.

The Digital Philately award is one award category among seven, including Creative Philately, Cultural Philately, Destination Philately, and Philatelic Storytelling.

Each year, the Chatty Awards honor the 80+ Stamp Chats that have been produced and aired since the spring prior. The awards ceremony was established as a way of recognizing and celebrating the extraordinary Stamp Chat presentations that highlight the best that the hobby has to offer. However, rather than selecting the favorites themselves, the American Philatelic Society opened up the awards to the public vote. The 2021 Chatty Awards saw over 1,700 votes counted, which makes this win a true people's choice award for Conversations with Philatelists, NobleSpirit, and HR Harmer.

The public was able to vote for their favorites during the month of January 2021. The winners of the American Philatelic Society's annual Chatty Awards were announced on February 4, 2021, via a live awards ceremony streamed on the APS's Facebook and YouTube channels.

The category that Conversations with Philatelists won, the Digital Philately category, specifically recognizes the individuals who have pioneered, encouraged, and subsequently expanded the body of online philately through their use of social media.

Conversations with Philatelists is hosted by the Co-Owner and Vice President of NobleSpirit, Michael Cortese, and the CEO of H.R. Harmer in New York, Charles Epting. Michael Cortese joined NobleSpirit shortly after completing his undergraduate studies. He quickly helped grow the small, family-run business into a large international consignor of rare stamps, coins, and collectibles that employs over 20 people. Outside of his work at NobleSpirit, Michael played a key role in the development of the Stamp Market Index, and is an alumnus of the American Philatelic Society's Young Philatelic Leader's Fellowship.

Conversations with Philatelists is a video and audio podcast that explores the world of stamps through the stories of different philatelists. Each week, Michael and Charles interview collectors, dealers, exhibitors, researchers, historians, authors, and professors across the globe to share their stories with an audience of avid stamp enthusiasts.

NobleSpirit could not be more proud or honored to have its own Michael Cortese chosen to receive this coveted award for his podcast with Charles.
