New Collaboration Offers Both Hourly and Long-Term Kitchen Rentals
PHOENIX, AZ / ACCESSWIRE / August 7, 2024 / Maker Kitchens, a Los Angeles-based developer of multi-unit private, health department-approved commercial kitchens, is changing the game in the commercial kitchen landscape. In a strategic move to offer comprehensive solutions to culinary entrepreneurs at various stages of their business journey, Maker Kitchens has partnered with BLT Kitchens to provide hourly kitchen rentals and private, long-term monthly rental options in Downtown Phoenix. The collaboration aims to create a supportive environment for food producers, fostering a circular food system where food is processed, prepared, eaten, composted and even sometimes grown within the same geographic area.
The new 22-unit Phoenix location, named Jackson St. Kitchens after its location on the corner of 9th and Jackson, makes a significant investment in a community with urgent food access needs. 43 out of 55 food deserts in Maricopa County are located within Phoenix, which affects almost half of the city's population. This highlights a critical need for locally produced food. Maker Kitchens is dedicated to tackling this challenge by offering an affordable, well-equipped facility to improve local food systems.
"Our decision to invest in the Phoenix facility was ambitious and in line with the objectives set forth by local advocates," said Yossi Reinstein, Partner at Maker Kitchens. "We take pride in supporting the local food ecosystem by offering affordable, health department-approved turnkey kitchen spaces that embody the principles of diversification, entrepreneurship, and the strengthening of local economies."
Jackson St. Kitchens is already home to local food producers Premium Granola, Shannon's Honey Kitchen, Spicy Candy Bar and Proper Eats, alongside meal prep enterprises and delivery-only concepts. This collaborative effort with BLT Kitchens aims to bolster a sustainable and flourishing local food network.
The partnership is dedicated to strengthening the local community by providing affordable and accessible commercial kitchens and empowering food entrepreneurs to produce and sell their creations locally and nationwide.
Local food systems are crucial for developing resilient communities and fostering trust and social connections among producers, farmers, and consumers. By reducing reliance on global industrial food systems, Maker Kitchens and BLT Kitchens aim to strengthen local economies and improve food security in Phoenix while providing a launching pad for new local food businesses.
