Each year, ACOFP honors in-practice physicians, residents and students who make exemplary contributions to the field of osteopathic medicine.

CHICAGO, IL / ACCESSWIRE / April 8, 2024 / The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP), the ACOFP Foundation and the Auxiliary to the ACOFP recognized 2024 award winners at the ACOFP 61st Annual Convention & Scientific Seminars, April 3-7, 2024, in New Orleans.

ACOFP award recipients include:

  • Rachel Nixon, DO | Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award
  • Jennifer L. Gwilym, DO, FAAFP, FACOFP | Outstanding Female Leader of the Year Award
  • Michael Becker, DO, MS, FACOFP | Osteopathic Family Medicine Educator of the Year Award
  • Shirley L. Sharp, DO, FACOFP | New Osteopathic Family Physician of the Year Award
  • Nicole H. Bixler, DO, MBA, FACOFP dist. | Distinguished Service Award

In addition, ACOFP bestowed Master Preceptor Awards to:

The ACOFP Foundation honored Thomas Duffy, DO, with the Sander A. Kushner, DO, FACOFP, Memorial Osteopathic Family Medicine Resident Award, and several others with the Namey/Burnett Preventative Medicine Writing Award.

  • Second place - Daryl Traylor, Ph.D., M.S., MPH, OMS-I
  • Third place - Tamryn Van Der Horn, MPH, OMS-III
  • Honorable Mention - Susana Abril Rodriguez Medina, OMS-III
  • Honorable Mention - Reena Sheth, OMS-II

The Auxiliary to the ACOFP recognized Ciara Robb, OMS-III, as the Marie Wiseman Outstanding Osteopathic Student of the Year. Evan Bischoff, OMS-IV; Kelsey McKenna, OMS-II; and Kira Wence, OMS-III, received the Emerging Osteopathic Student Leader Awards.
