The PROTECT prevention education program is on target to reach over one million K-12 children and educators.

EL DORADO HILLS, CA / ACCESSWIRE / September 26, 2023 / With Governor Gavin Newsom signing Senate Bill 14 into law, sex trafficking of a minor is now a serious felony counting as a strike under California's Three Strikes law. The bill, which was authored by Sen. Shannon Grove (R-Bakersfield) and sponsored by 3Strands Global Foundation, was a major step forward for those combating sex trafficking and seeking stronger consequences for perpetrators of this heinous crime in California, the state with the highest rate of human trafficking cases nationwide.

"This law will protect California's children and send a strong message by increasing prosecution of the predators who make a living buying and selling children within state lines," said Ashlie Bryant, CEO of the 3Strands Global Foundation. "We are grateful to Senator Grove and honored to have sponsored her bill which raised awareness around the prevalence of human trafficking in California and ensures that child traffickers understand California is a zero tolerance state when it comes to human trafficking in all its forms."

California Governor Gavin Newsom and Ashlie Bryant, CEO of 3Strands Global Foundation at the signing of SB14 which categorizes sex trafficking of minors as a serious felony.

3Strands Global, a non-profit organization working to combat human trafficking through prevention, education and reintegration programs is on target to reach over one million K-12 children with its age-appropriate PROTECT prevention education program.

"We have worked for over a decade to provide prevention education to both children and educators so that all children are protected from those who groom, recruit and exploit people," stated Bryant. "The passing of SB14 doesn't change the fact that this horrific criminal activity is taking place every day, in every corner of our state, and we are more focused than ever to educate our children and give them tools to protect themselves from traffickers."

The organization's PROTECT program empowers communities to stay safe through age-appropriate engaging lessons that include safety, personal boundaries, abuse, human trafficking and ways to identify and report any potential harm.
