The $10,000 grant is intended to provide financial support for undergraduate and graduate students who are the first generation in their family to live in the United States and who demonstrate academic excellence, financial need, and a commitment to achieving their educational and career goals.

As the first generation in your family to live in the United States, you have a unique perspective and experience that has undoubtedly shaped your aspirations for the future. The Mark Mariani Grant for First Generation Americans recognizes and celebrates the achievements of these students and provides them with financial support to help achieve their educational and career goals.
To apply for this grant, you must be a current undergraduate or graduate student studying in the United States. The grant is open to all students regardless of their major or field of study. We believe that every student has the potential to make a difference in their community, regardless of their chosen field. That's why we welcome students from all disciplines to apply for this grant.
To apply, students should submit an essay of no more than 1000 words that creatively addresses the following question: "How has your experience as a first-generation American shaped your aspirations for the future, and how do you plan to use your education to give back to your community?"

We also want to know how you plan to use your education to make a positive impact on your community. We're looking for essays that are creative, thoughtful, and demonstrate a clear commitment to achieving your goals.
