TORONTO, ON / ACCESSWIRE / April 10, 2023 / Recently, Fedor Belomoev, the CEO of 4Blind Company, alumnus of York Entrepreneurship Development Institute, spoke at the United Nations in Vienna at the Zero Conference 2023, which was focused on solving problems related to inclusivity and accessibility in the world.
4Blind is a Canadian startup creating and producing innovative engineering solutions to empower blind and deafblind communities, removing barriers they face in communication, education, employment and independent living, and helping to improve the lives of the 285 million blind people and 7 million deafblind people worldwide.
4Blind was singled out among the projects and invited to the Zero Project and Zero Conference. The Zero Project and Zero Conference are international initiatives that work to identify and share innovative solutions to social challenges.
"Zero Project and Zero Conference are based on collaboration, family and friendship around each other. You are all here need to join the dots of the passion and the work and the intention and commitment that we have to create a world where there are zero barriers," said Carolina Casey, Ambassador of Zero Project.
During the presentation, 4Blind talked about their achievements and the needs that exist today to continue developing new products for equal opportunities.
Among the solutions that company has already developed and helps people today is the HaptiBraille Communicator.
Being totally deafblind means that in almost every aspect of their life these people are accompanied by someone else (guide, interpreter, assistant). Such depravity of privacy results from inability to communicate independently. 4Blind's solution is the world's first personal device for people with deafblindness, which allows them to speak in a synthesized voice and to "hear" the interlocutor's speech.
The small device breaks down barriers in communication and helps deaf-blind people to be more socially included. It also makes organizations and public institutions more accessible as it enables employees to interact directly with people who have speech, visual and hearing impairments. Ultimately, it also empowers those who are deafblind to have chance to participate in educational venues and expand their career potential.
At the conference, the CEO of 4Blind also told about the team engaged in creation of innovative solutions which consists of enthusiastic specialists from different fields: engineers, programmers, scientists and also volunteers all over the world. The essential part of the team is the head of user interface and design department who is a deaf-blind person. He has an extensive experience of assistive programs localisation and expertise of assistive technologies, and his work is crucial for making our solutions suitable for users with special needs.
An experienced team and the support of partners, mentors and investors allowed 4Blind to proceed with the development of new assistive solutions, among which is the Braille PAD, a tactile tablet allowing to view images, work with charts, diagrams, formulas, maps, etc. This device is a real breakthrough in tactile access to any form of graphic images and texts. It not only helps to improve the quality and efficiency of educational programs through the introduction of interactivity and a variety of materials, but indeed provides an ability to the blind individual to be more competitive in labor market and gain advantages in their professional activity.
The chance to speak at UN during the Zero Conference 2023 gave a great boost of inspiration and a chance to share ideas with a global audience. 4Blind looks forward to continuing work together and making a positive impact on the lives of people with disabilities around the world and opens for the new partnerships and social impact investments.
