NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / February 2, 2023 / China Development Financial, also known as KGI, is a Financial Holding Corporation in Taiwan that provides banking, securities and venture capital services to investors. Before they reached out to Frog Design, they were in desperate need of replacing their old system with a well-organized one that could fit in all the features of the new five product lines. As the leader in the industry, a squad at Frog Design that consists of 6 professionals generated an end-to-end brand new design of a website rebranding KGI.

As one of the interaction designers, Erica Gao collaborated with the product manager and engineer to build KGI's web platform design systems for all key subsidiaries from creating fundamental design components and designing pattern libraries, to building and launching web team design systems on Zeroheight.

"We had to work closely with the engineering team to make sure all of our designs correspond to their technical requirements," Gao shares, "And another challenge is we have to guarantee that the new system works on both mobile and web."

According to Gao, KGI was seeking a redesign for their 5 different tracks of banking platform systems. Each track has its own service line which requires a web system that responds to the design elements. The team was asked to come up with components as well as a pattern library that could allow KGI to build their banking platforms quickly and effectively.

Gao and her team used a platform-agnostic, component-based approach in the designs to ensure flexibility and scalability for future product roadmaps. The visual language they crafted focused on KGI's branded banking experience across web and mobile, including Card, Notice Bar Notification (aka toast), and Ratio Slider, etc.

"My responsibility was to create a responsive design pattern library that would allow our small team to build over 100 brand websites," Gao says, "In this case, the end users were our own design and development team. My approach was to research existing design systems, understand patterns and involve the design and development team from the 'get-go' to participate with ideas and feedback."

Gao highly regards system planning as well to make sure the interaction between users and the website could go as smoothly as possible since user experience is always her priority. She believes that digital designers will be outdated if there's not enough diversification in their area of expertise. And Gao is definitely not one of them.
