From Chronic Fatigue Syndrome to High Performance: How Sam Wysock-Wright is Changing Lives through Meditation

Monday, 16 January 2023 11:00 AM

LONDON, UK / ACCESSWIRE / January 16, 2023 / Sam Wysock-Wright is a living example of the benefits that meditation can have on a person's physical, mental and emotional health. Before he took up meditation in his twenties, he was struggling with a condition called Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), a condition that seems to run in his family. He suffered from disturbed sleep, poor digestion, extreme fatigue and very high levels of anxiety and even depression.

Multiple visits to doctors alleviated some of the symptoms, but then they would return with a vengeance. That is when as a last resort, a friend suggested Vedic meditation. At this point, Sam was ready to try anything and quickly signed up for a course. Right from the first session, Sam felt a sense of calmness that he had never experienced before. He was not even aware that such a level of relaxation was possible. In fact, research studies have proved that meditating for 20 minutes just twice a day can help the body achieve a state of rest that is up to 2 to 5 times deeper than the deepest part of sleep. Sam, who had expected that all who attended the course would be hippies, was happily surprised to see that there were people drawn from all backgrounds in the group.

The first retreat that Sam attended was a 3 day retreat and though he enjoyed some benefits, the daily grind took its toll again on him till he was almost back at square one. It was another one and a half years before he was able to save up enough funds to attend another seven day retreat. Attending this retreat proved to be a turning point in Sam's life. He decided that in light of the benefits that meditation offered him, he was going to become a full time teacher specializing in meditation. He wanted other people across the world to enjoy the same benefits that he got from meditations and attended intensive teacher training in Bali for a period of three months before taking up a full-time career conducting meditation courses.

Today, Soma Meditation offers three types of courses - on demand meditation, a 4 day Vedic meditation course and meditation retreats which offer intensive training in meditation for those who already have basic knowledge in meditation. Sam specializes in Vedic meditation which involves meditation using a mantra to focus and withdraw from our surroundings. On demand meditation is an introductory course for those who would like to understand the basics of meditation and would then like to decide if they want to go for a more intensive course. The four day Vedic meditation course, available in both online and face to face format is a complete meditation training. Sam's retreat offers a more intensive course that seamlessly blends yoga postures (asanas), breathing exercises (pranayama), meditation and spells of rest. Meditation retreats are 4 or 7 day residential events that give participants a full on chance to withdraw from the world and recharge to emerge in a better mental state. They get to enjoy delicious vegan meals cooked on site while attending meditation sessions in both the morning and the afternoon.

Said Sam Wysock-Wright, "Meditation gave me inner healing that years of treatment with traditional medicine could not achieve. I underwent intensive training to share the benefits of this ancient practice with people across the world. Our courses give attendees a chance to get a break from the stresses and strains of modern life that they face on a daily basis and become resilient to them, so that they don't affect us as much in the future. Stress levels are at an all-time high now thanks to many factors like the high cost of living, increasing work related stress and uncertainty regarding the future. Meditation is definitely one of the best options for taking a break from the madness that characterizes modern life today. In fact, the many CEOs and high net worth individuals who attend my sessions, as well as hundreds of ordinary people, attest to the effectiveness of this ancient technique."
