Dr. Erik Goluboff Scholarship for Future Doctors Available Now

NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / December 16, 2022 / The Dr. Erik Goluboff Scholarship for Future Doctors is now open to students who want to advance their education on the road to becoming medical doctors. The award is available to university and college students pursuing a career as a Doctor of Medicine. High school students who want to go to university to pursue a medical degree to work in healthcare can also apply for this scholarship. The top student who wants to work in medicine will receive a total prize of $1,000. One deserving winner will be chosen from among the entries received from interested students from an essay competition based on the question of how the student will use their degree to improve upon an issue in medicine. Students need to provide full name, phone number, email address, GPA, high school name and graduation date, the name of the university they are presently enrolled in, and personal bio along with the essay. The deadline for all applicants to submit their applications is June 15, 2023. On July 15, 2023, the winner of the essay writing competition and the most qualified student will be chosen.

From personal experience, Dr. Erik Goluboff is aware of the difficulties that can arise when pursuing a career in medicine. In addition to the long study period, there are also financial limitations. Many students have suffered because of the escalating cost of education. Many people are compelled to give up on pursuing their aspirations, even when some choose to work part-time to pay for their studies. Dr. Goluboff is providing a scholarship to lessen the financial load of one eligible student because of this. He wants to support a student who is passionate about medicine by offering his scholarship. He also wants to draw attention to the difficulties that students have when trying to pursue a profession in medicine. He also believes that the scholarship would provide awareness to generate more opportunities to students with access to financial aid.

Recently, Dr. Erik Goluboff joined the therapeutic development program at Genentech/Roche as the Principal Medical Lead for urologic malignancies (bladder, kidney, prostate). He joined AstraZeneca in June 2020 as Global Clinical Product Lead Imfinzi (GU/Tumor Agnostic) for their late-stage research and development activities in bladder cancer, after working almost 30 years as an academic urologic oncologist. The following year, he was given the title of Global Clinical Head, Imfinzi (GU/Cancers/Tumor Women's Agnostic/Clinical Safety/Life Cycle). He previously held the position of Professor of Urology at Mount Sinai's Icahn School of Medicine. At the Stern School of Business at NYU, he most recently earned an MBA with concentrations in corporate finance, financial instruments, and management. He received the MBA class valedictorian award. Before that, he held the positions of Clinical Urology Professor at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and Director of Urology at New York-Presbyterian Hospital/The Allen Pavilion. He is an American College of Surgeons Fellow and a board-certified urologist. He earned his Phi Beta Kappa and magna cum laude degrees from Columbia College in NYC and his Alpha Omega Alpha degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed a year of general surgery residency training at Johns Hopkins before completing residency training in surgery and urology at Columbia.Dr. Erik Goluboff is aware of the power of a good education and how it might advance one's career.
