BARCELONA, SPAIN / ACCESSWIRE / December 9, 2022 /The International Sports Chiropractic Federation, or FICS, held a symposium with Executive Leadership, Committee Chairs, and Country Representatives from multiple different countries in Barcelona, Spain, to discuss and share theories of the development of international sports chiropractic and how best to carry FICS into the future. The International Sports Chiropractic Federation's, or FICS, goal is to provide equal opportunities of sports chiropractic care, education, mentoring and research to all athletes and sports chiropractors locally and internationally. Dr. Wilhelm has traveled extensively to different locales to attend conferences and treat athletes including twice to The World Games, In 2017 to Wroclaw, Poland and in 2022 to Birmingham, Alabama. Additionally, he had worked events under the FICS banner in Austria, Spain, Italy, and Turkey. He has recently been sought after for leadership roles, since late May 2022 he has been their Chair of the Student Commission. He helps run the student affairs aspects of FICS such as scholarships, learning opportunities, mentoring and clubs for the sports chiropractors of tomorrow. Dr. Wilhelm's history of the dedication and passion for student athletes, local and international, made it an easy decision for FICS to pick him out of hundreds of other international sports chiropractors to run their Student Commission. Dr. Wilhelm enjoys traveling and spreading his enthusiasm for sports chiropractic, so he jumped at the opportunity to do what he loves in servings students and furthering the reach of sports chiropractic worldwide.
Barcelona is a breathtaking city with many unique attractions such as a world class soccer team, Michelin starred restaurants and bars, stunning public and private architecture and renowned art museums but Dr. Wilhelm attended for the duty and pleasure of discussing his plans for the future of his Student Commission with other international leaders in FICS. Dr. Wilhelm was thoughtfully cautious since he was the "new guy" at the Barcelona summit but those feelings dissipated once he arrived. Immediately he felt welcomed and at home with his international chiropractic peers. There are many different languages and cultures in the world but one thing they all had in common was their love for chiropractic medicine. Although they were all used to being their local experts in sports chiropractic, everyone was very welcoming and open to one another's ideas and beliefs which fostered a spirit of camaraderie within FICS.
The reason for the meeting was to present the future plans for where they wanted to take their respective commissions in the coming years. This was to have a clear understanding of what each of the separate commissions wanted to explore so FICS can have an unambiguous roadmap for everyone to share and collaborate on. Each commission chair was tasked to come up with five new goals that they want focus on for the next three years. Then all of these goals were brainstormed and whittled down to the top ten FICS goals that were the most urgent and integral to the success of the federation. This allowed Dr. Wilhelm and his peers to have a friendly discourse and identify the best strategies to improve FICS and make it the best sports chiropractic federation in the world.
Once these goals were identified, the experts were divided into small groups to discuss how best to reach these goals. These strategies were revised then presented to everyone to be implemented in the coming three years. Dr. Wilhelm praised the structure and organization of this meeting. It allowed for a smooth discussion and design of how best to steer FICS into the future. Dr. Wilhelm attributed the superior organizational framework to the planning and leadership of Secretary General, Dr. Keith Overland and FICS President, Bradley Sandler. As well as the tireless organization, influence, and planning behind the scenes of FICS Executive Director, Trish Donoghue. Dr. Wilhelm raved that this Barcelona conference was the most successful and organized planning meeting he has had the pleasure to attend and cannot wait to attend the next meeting to see how the goals were implemented and to celebrate the success it has brought FICS. Dr. Wilhelm urges all sports chiropractors to join him and the good people at FICS as they are Helping Athletes Achieve and spread sports chiropractic to all corners of the world.
