NORTHAMPTON, MA / ACCESSWIRE / November 11, 2022 / November is Military Family Appreciation Month-and Veterans Day falls on November 11-so it's a great time to honor and celebrate those who have served in the US military and their family members by focusing on the work Aramark is doing to hire and support this community.

"Aramark is proud to employ service members, veterans, and military spouses across a variety of career opportunities at the company," said Jennifer Goodman, Aramark Military Initiatives Program Manager. "We continue to build on that momentum and success with hiring initiatives, corporate partnerships, and employee-driven activities that focus attention on veterans."

Rooted in Service

Aramark has recently launched a careers page that provides a tailored and relevant experience for the military community and showcases Aramark as an employer of choice for service members, veterans, and military spouses.

The page features stories from current employees who are either veterans or military spouses, highlighting their career journeys.

The company develops and engages military-affiliated talent through recruitment and mentoring initiatives, as well. In 2020, Aramark established a partnership with American Corporate Partners (ACP) to pair Aramark mentors with veterans and military spouses to assist them in finding their next career.

At present, more than 50 Aramark leaders-whether they are military-affiliated or not-have volunteered to be mentors to service members, veterans, or military spouses through ACP. In November 2022, Goodman attended a symposium with ACP focused on hiring enlisted veterans.

Aramark highlights career and personal stories from employees to help veterans and military families better understand life at the company.

New Partnership: Hiring Our Heroes

This month, Aramark entered a new partnership with Hiring Our Heroes (HOH), an organization that connects the military community with businesses to create economic opportunity and a strong and diversified workforce.

"We are committed to supporting our service members, veterans, and military spouses wherever their employment journey may lead," said Fenimore Fisher, Vice President, Aramark Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. "It helps us build a stronger and more inclusive workforce that drives value for our clients and customers in the marketplace."

Aramark SALUTE ERG

Aramark is committed to building a company culture that values every employee and encourages people to bring their whole selves to work.

One way the company does that is through a growing network of employee resource groups (ERGs), including SALUTE which supports Aramark in attracting, appreciating, and retaining veteran and military-affiliated talent and their families.

SALUTE ERG members organized events in November to focus on the community.

A virtual event webinar on November 10 featured guest speaker Mike Linnington, CEO of the Wounded Warrior Project, whose mission is to honor and empower those wounded while in the military. SALUTE partnered with Aramark's disability-focused THRIVE ERG on the event.

On November 30, a webinar has been planned called "Intersectional Identities: The Pursuit of Social Justice and LGBTQ+ Rights." The guest speaker will be Colonel Margarethe Cammermeyer, RN, PhD, US Army Ret., who will share her story of coming out while serving in the military. The event is planned as a collaboration between the SALUTE and PRIDE ERGs.
