COLLEGEVILLE, PA / ACCESSWIRE / November 14, 2022 / Veteran insurance executive and philanthropist Richard Wesselt is proud to announce that his new blog is live on the internet, bolstered by two inaugural entries. The subjects addressed by Richard's blog will primarily concern charitable endeavors and community service-subjects with which he has ample first-hand experience.
In his latest blog entry, titled Richard Wesselt Discusses Different Types of Philanthropists: What Kind Are You?, Richard asserts that all philanthropists fall under one of three general categories, assigning them the terms ‘do-gooder,' ‘altruist,' and ‘strategic philanthropist,' respectively. In the section of the blog dealing with altruists, he writes, "Altruists are motivated by a desire to help others but tend to be less attached to any particular cause than do-gooders. Altruists generally give to charitable organizations that they believe are effective and efficient. They want to make sure that their donations have a positive impact, so they tend to research organizations before giving."
In the preceding blog entry, titled Why Richard Wesselt Believes Anyone Can Become a Philanthropist, Richard Wesselt explains that an individual does not need to be exceedingly wealthy in order to make a positive difference in their community and that anyone, regardless of their profession or station in life, can make meaningful acts of charity. "Think you can't make a difference in the world as a stay-at-home parent? Think again. Children are the future, and you can help mold them into responsible, caring adults by volunteering to lead a youth group. As a youth group leader, you'll have the opportunity to teach children about important topics like philanthropy, empathy, and commitment," he asserts. Richard then goes on to write that "organizations like Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts are always looking for volunteers to lead youth groups" and that another common way to give back to a community is to "take on a volunteer coaching position for youth sports."

Originally from Norristown, Pennsylvania, Richard Wesselt excelled both in academics and sports throughout primary and secondary school. By his senior year in high school, he had become the starting quarterback for the varsity football team. Richard proceeded to enroll in the University of Pennsylvania in 1985, having been recruited to play for its legendary football team, and graduating from its Wharton School of Business in 1989.
In his first job out of college, Richard worked with Provident Mutual. There, he was awarded the insurance company's distinction of ‘Rookie of the Year' in 1990. After some time had passed, he was offered a role with Phoenix Home Life, leading that insurance firm in the number of policies written in 1996. As his successes mounted in the insurance industry, Richard was inspired to create his own insurance and fiscal management firm, and he founded Wesselt Capital Group in 1997. In the 25 years since its founding, the firm has helped over 34,000 people meet their insurance needs.
A big believer in giving back to the community, Richard Wesselt has served on the boards of governors for several Catholic schools, including Bishop Kenrick High School, Kennedy Kenrick High School, and Pope John Paul High School.
