NORTHAMPTON, MA / ACCESSWIRE / October 19, 2022 / Caroline Berns, Head of Diversity & Inclusion and Talent Acquisition, MMEA

Welcome to the latest edition of our Diversity & Inclusion News Round up. Today we are talking about NASA's DEIA strategic plan, the benefits of work-life support programs, two major marathons including non-binary category, and reactions to the new "The Little Mermaid" trailer.

Diversity

US space agency NASA has shared its (60-page) strategic plan on how to elevate DEIA (diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility) between now and 2026. Worth reading!

Work-life

Very interesting podcast with Prof. Alexandra Kalev on the benefits of work-life support programs (including flexibility, time off and childcare policies).

LGBTQ+

Organizers for the Boston Marathon and the TCS London Marathon, two of the most prestigious marathons in the world, have announced that for the 2023 races, runners will be able to identify as non-binary when submitting their entry application.

Representation

A hot topic this week was the release of the new "The Little Mermaid" trailer, starring actor and singer Halle Bailey. While some people complained that mermaids should not be Black (…) - videos of young Black girls being excited about representation went viral.
