NASHVILLE, TN / ACCESSWIRE / October 19, 2022 / S2 Cognition, a sports-science company that delivers a patented technology responsible for evaluating how athletes make split-second decisions, announced today it has launched its first Mobile Testing Lab. The Mobile Lab delivers one-of-a-kind cognitive assessments to event venues hosting large groups of athletes for tournaments, camps, combines and showcases. The S2 Mobile Lab is a 28-foot custom-built, fully enclosed trailer equipped with the company's latest testing technology adapted for Xbox, called S2X. The company also reported that its efforts to make the S2 cognitive evaluation more broadly available to youth athletes everywhere has expanded significantly with testing sites now open in partnership with skill-based training facilities in Atlanta, GA, Chandler, AZ, Northern Virginia, San Antonio & San Marcos, TX, Brandon, MS, as well as sites in both Birmingham & Huntsville, AL.
S2 Cognition is changing the way coaches, athletes, and parents think about player evaluation, development, recruiting and scouting. The 20 to 45-minute S2 digital evaluation offers a variety of cognitive assessments measuring anywhere from four brain "systems" to as many as nine and is now being administered at major tournament venues such as Lakepoint Sports in Emerson, GA, and on college campuses for testing of roster athletes and/or prospect camp participants. The S2 Evaluation measures the speed and accuracy with which an athlete can process what they see, translate what they see into an action decision, and then execute that action with millisecond-level precision. The S2 Eval is currently being used by athletes as young as 12, collegiate athletes in every major division and conference, and at the professional level by teams in the MLB, the NFL, the NBA, and MLS.
Commenting on the launch of the Mobile Lab and recent expansion efforts in retail, S2 CEO Vaden Landers said, "From the minute I walked in the door here at S2 seven months ago, there was this shared vision and dream of creating the capability to go mobile with our cognitive assessment. It was obvious to me early on that to scale our business within the youth sports market (initially here in the US), especially the segment comprised of competitive athletes with ambitions to play beyond high school, we had to go where they were, and that was clearly tournaments, camps, combines, showcases and training facilities. So, we have been focusing a lot of energy and resources on building out a network of partner organizations where we could conduct the S2 Eval in a distraction free environment as necessary to achieve optimal results. Concurrently, we started working with our marketing agency and design/build team at Specialized Mobile Exhibits (SME) to help bring our Mobile Lab concept to life, and that dream became a reality a few months back when we took the trailer to our first event, a Prep Baseball Report (PBR) 17u National Championship at Lakepoint. The event was attended by over 3,000 people, offering significant exposure and testing opportunities, and we haven't slowed down since. Our travels thus far have taken us to large-scale tournament venues and on campus with top college programs from Coastal Carolina to the University of Tennessee." Landers concluded, "our mission to bring S2's game-changing technology to the broader athlete community only begins here - this is not the end. Ultimately it is our mission to administer hundreds of thousands of assessments annually to athletes in sport, military, police and fire personnel, corporate athletes, and across the spectrum of eSports. The market opportunity is massive, and we are just getting started!"
About S2 Cognition
Founded in 2015 by former college athletes and cognitive neuroscientists Scott Wylie and Brandon Ally who met at Vanderbilt University while serving in research and clinical roles, S2 Cognition is a best-in-class digital evaluation platform that is scientifically validated to measure an athlete's cognitive abilities that have, until now, been unquantifiable. S2 is used by top NCAA, MLB, NFL, and MLS teams to aid in draft and recruiting decisions, measure player performance, and train better athletes through a structured prescription of drills to enhance player development. S2 believes that knowing how and why an athlete is wired from a cognitive perspective helps to create a more complete understanding as to why players excel in certain areas and struggle in others, so that player efficiency and performance is optimized. Working with S2 allows an athlete to see what others can't, train like others won't, and perform like others don't!
