VENICE BEACH, CA / ACCESSWIRE / August 4, 2022 / There has never been a greater demand or need for effective virtual learning tools than today. The global COVID-19 pandemic underscored that building better and more flexible digital learning systems is paramount to educating future generations.

Eric Pulier, futurist and CEO of Vatom, contends that the inter-connectivity, contextual 3D environment, and psychology of ownership with digital objects that a Web3 platform provides could create transformative educational experiences.

"In such an evolving landscape with shifting needs and priorities, students need to feel connected to the subjects they're learning, and when educational systems can provide motivation to learn in a way that incorporates play, collaboration, and experience, the change will be remarkable," says Eric Pulier.

VR and AR interactive tools could be a part of the educational experience in Web3, but the most important aspect of this platform is the opportunity for creative play-a customized and incentivized approach that will bring joy to a day at school, however that day may be structured, and greater connection to the material they're learning.

Traditional experiential learning has looked a lot like trips to Colonial Williamsburg, or a day at a local farm, or an egg-drop project. From interactive and contextualized experiences, kids learn so much more than what's on the lesson plan. However, these kinds of staid experiences have vast limitations, including accessibility for many students and schools.

"With virtual spaces, an important building block of Web3, students will be able to visit a Pharaoh's throne room, or stand on the deck of a 17th century Dutch trading ship, or experience the Oregon Trail, without having to leave the classroom," says Eric Pulier. "We can conduct science experiments on a grander scale without safety concerns, and create better ways to visualize math for struggling students who need more than just lines on a paper." Most importantly, the experience does not begin and end with a scheduled session, but unfolds continuously in entertaining ways through the magic of programmable digital objects.

Eric Pulier also believes that the increased personalization of a Web3 world will allow for more customized experiences for students, and importantly, virtually eliminate the isolated feeling of learning alone in front of a computer.

"We hear time and time again that there are too many students per classroom and not enough teachers," says Eric Pulier. "Every student is different, but teachers have to teach towards the average in the class, this inevitably means some students fall behind, and it leaves little room for play and exploration. Web3 will enable more in-depth learning experiences, and more helpful elements for students needing more context to fully grasp a subject."

Then there's incentivization. By incentives, Eric Pulier means putting in place a gamification strategy in education-on a micro level for individual lessons, and a macro level for broader subject study like History and Math-where Smart NFTs play a crucial role in evolving the way our children are inspired to learn. These programmable, unique, and nontransferable tokens provide rewards or access to new virtual spaces each time a student passes a test or completes an assignment. The objects are available at all times, and work in conjunction with metaverse experiences to create a wholistic approach that is far more impactful than any one element alone.

The concept of taking education to the web is not new, but it was conceived at a time before the global pandemic, and before Web3 technologies matured to their current state. Eric Pulier believes that the potential of Web3 as a tool to accelerate education is limitless. By enhancing and extending our reality, theoretical learning is augmented by more experiential learning in vast, creative virtual spaces that provide context and a canvas for unlimited, collaborative exploration. By applying an easy-to-use Web3 Wallet, programmable digital objects, and 3D virtual spaces where students can collaborate and play, the next generation of education promises to be the most significant leap in the field in decades.
