VENICE BEACH, CA / ACCESSWIRE / August 2, 2022 / One of the most anticipated aspects of a Web3 future is a community-led approach to a "creator economy." With more consumers becoming disillusioned with the restrictions big internet platforms place on discoverability and monetization, creators across industries are setting their sights on how the next iteration of the internet will more directly benefit their work.

As a technologist and entrepreneur who studies and innovates across the diverse ways Web3 tools can enhance lives, Eric Pulier, CEO of Vatom, contends that the way business will be conducted in Web3 will put power back in the hands of creators and their communities, and usher in a new era of community participation and self-governance.

Today, the creator economy market generates an outstanding $104B, and over the next five years one billion people will self-identify as a creator. With investors pouring a record US$1.3B into this space in 2021, the potential for life-changing work is just on the horizon.

"It's the future of human engagement," Eric Pulier says. "A future that actually realizes what we originally wanted the internet to be - a platform that connects one another and provides meaningful ways to have a successful business online, even if that business is just yourself."

In the current dynamic between content creators and platforms, the latter often takes the lion's share of earnings from advertising revenues and other sources and wields control over what content can and cannot be published and monetized. Creators see little of that advertising revenue, and their content can be taken down with little warning or promise of appeal.

"The movement to decentralize control of people's personal data and business operations is giving way to a new model-an open model-that will breathe new life into creator potential to make real revenue from their fans and community," Eric Pulier explains.

Consumers have barely scratched the surface on how they can use these tools to build their followings. Using Web3 elements like Smart NFTs - programmable, unique, and protected assets - and first-party data connections, consumers have a direct conduit for ongoing communication with their fans and customers. Without having to navigate third parties to talk to their customers, these direct connections can enable voluntary and nonvoluntary payments from their fan-bases, and countless ways to reward support for their knowledge and creations.

Pulier says that the next generation of community will shift from a primarily top-down, to a primarily bottom-up model where the participants themselves will set and govern the rules of the group, and the reward systems will be designed to encourage self-sustaining economies. Eric Pulier concludes, "In a Web3 future, real community will lead the success of the creator economy."
