Dennis and Kim Bonnen Foundation to Award a $1,000 Scholarship

Students are Encouraged to Apply for a scholarship to help supplement their college or university education.

LONGVIEW, TX / ACCESSWIRE / June 7, 2022 / The Dennis and Kim Bonnen Foundation is proud to announce its very first academic scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to one deserving student for the 2023-2024 school year.

This marks a significant milestone for the foundation as they continue its mission of giving back to the community. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on merit and need, making this an open opportunity for all students.

You must be confirmed and enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program by the scholarship deadline to qualify. All applicants must write a 300 to 500-word essay answering the below question: "Describe an area in your life where you demonstrated leadership and overcame obstacles either through your school, social, or family life."

The deadline to apply is December 31, 2022.

About the Scholarship

As the parents of two beautiful children, Dennis & Kim Bonnen understand the importance of obtaining a college or university degree after graduating high school.

They founded the Dennis and Kim Bonnen Foundation in 2022 to assist one recipient every year with financial relief from the ever-rising cost of tuition. The scholarship is open to any student in the US.

About Kim and Dennis

The Honorable Dennis Bonnen was sworn in as Texas House Speaker in January 2019. Elected by his colleagues, Speaker Bonnen set an early tone for unity in the House Chamber by empowering members to work together to achieve meaningful results that address the state's most pressing issues. Speaker Bonnen believes in casting aside politics in favor of finding real solutions.

Born Kim Martin, Kim grew up in Longview, Texas, and graduated high school from Trinity School of Texas in 1994. Kim earned a B.S. in Child Development and Family Relationships from The University of Texas at Austin in 1998. In Austin, she first became involved in politics as a legislative aide in 1999, where she first met her husband, Dennis Bonnen, then a 2nd term House member.

Kim and Dennis have two boys, Jackson, a senior, and Gregory, a sophomore. Both boys attend her alma mater, Trinity School of Texas, in Longview.
