Thursday, 02 June 2022 02:50 PM

COLUMBUS, OH / ACCESSWIRE / June 1, 2022 / Organic Garments (OG), the creator of stylish, sustainable, lightweight footwear for people who want to be kind to the planet, has announced it is releasing its first product: the OG Pineapple low-top sneakers that will come in both natural and black colors. OG states that they are part of what will soon be a collection of fashionable, comfortable sneakers that are made only of plants and recyclable materials.

The launch comes as interest in sustainable living increases. A global study reported in 2021 found that 85% of respondents had become more focused on sustainability when shopping. This is likely driven by concern over the effects of climate change as well as the growing number of vegans, environmentalists and millennials who are seeking ways to reduce their carbon footprints. In recent years, vegan leather has also been a trend as more people have turned away from shoes made from animal products. With the release of OG Pineapple low-top sneakers, however, consumers have a new choice of materials: hemp and pineapple leaf fibers.

"We are pleased to offer attractive, eco-friendly sneakers that invite consumers to plant their feet in them," says a spokesperson for Organic Garments. "The release of our line has been over five years in the making, so this is an important milestone in our company."

Hemp may be a surprising choice of materials for those who are unfamiliar with the plant. "We conducted several years of research before settling on hemp," the spokesperson states. "What we learned is that it is very strong, holds its shape, and resists water, mildew and ultraviolet light. Our shoes also use pineapple leaves, a new patented vegan material. Typically, pineapple leaves are discarded during the pineapple harvest and left to rot. We loved the idea of using what was once considered waste to create sneakers that are durable and attractive."

The spokesperson for Organic Garments reveals that the company has already received many inquiries and positive feedback on its new sneakers. "We are seeing a lot of public interest in sustainable footwear that is suitable for both casual and upscale outings."

Organic Garments is currently working on a black high top, which is scheduled for release in the fall of 2022, as well as a blue low top. "We are working to surprise consumers with sneakers that are creative and fun to wear while still remaining true to our vision of sustainable footwear," the spokesperson says.

Organic Garments plans to branch out to other plant-based materials as it grows. "We eventually want to make shoes using different fruits and vegetables. There are already startups that are exploring the use of apples, cactus and mushrooms as actual fabrics. We are intrigued by the possibilities and hope to work with industry innovators to incorporate these foods into our sneakers."

As the company takes its first orders of its OG Pineapple sneakers, it remains focused on the health of the planet. "While we are thrilled that our footwear has the potential to lessen the immediate impact of people on the Earth, our vision is bigger than that," says the spokesperson for Organic Garments. "Ultimately, we want to develop a long-term recycling program so that each pair of sneakers is turned into a new pair. Imagine what our world may be like when that happens. Sustainable living, including the shoes we choose to wear, has the potential to lead all of us into a completely different future."

Organic Garments, founded by Josh Thiede, is the creator of the OG Pineapple sneaker for men and women. The sneaker is the culmination of the company's search for a way to build a better plant-based sneaker that could be worn anywhere and that would be good for people and for the planet.
