In that spirit, even as East Hanover Family Dental laments parting ways with longtime friend and colleague Dr. John Totera as he moves to Florida to pursue other endeavors, the New Jersey-based family cosmetic dental practice is pleased to announce that it is welcoming a new dentist into its family: Dr. Irena Skibinsky.
A board-certified general dentist who has been practicing since 2011, to say that Dr. Irena Skibinsky is well-credentialed is something of an understatement. After earning her bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, graduating Summa Cum Laude, she went on to complete her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in Newark, New Jersey. There, she became a member of the Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the National Dental Honor Society. Following her formal education, Dr. Skibinsky completed her general practice residency at the Metropolitan Hospital in New York City, New York. She is also fluent in English, Russian, and Spanish, and as such, is able to speak to many of her patients in their first language, the effect of which makes them feel more at ease under her care.
Though Dr. Irena Skibinsky's speciality lies in cosmetic dentistry, she also enjoys treating children. In fact, one of the many traits that makes her such a wonderful dentist is her extensive community involvement. As a means of giving back, she donates her time as a representative for Children's Dental Health Awareness Day at the Liberty Science Center, where she educates children and their parents about how to improve oral healthcare with the aid of posters, games, and activities. Dr. Skibinsky also participates in the much-acclaimed Smile Makers program, offering free screenings and exams to underprivileged children throughout the Newark, New Jersey metropolitan area. When not working or volunteering, the newest addition to the East Hanover Family Dental practice enjoys spending time with her husband and small children, ballroom dancing, and traveling the world.
Dr. Skibinsky's business hours are Monday 8:30 am - 6 pm, Friday 8:30 am - 5 pm, and one Saturday each month 8 am - 3 pm. She accepts the same insurance carriers as Dr. Totera did before leaving, so any of his old patients-as well as any new ones-are invited to schedule an appointment, introduce themselves, and welcome her to East Hanover Family Dental!
