Soliva is a veteran of the U.S. Army. She credits her commitment to her country to her father, a 20-year U.S. Navy veteran, and the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. She was an eighth grader watching the day unfold on a classroom TV, and the tragedy had a long-lasting impact on her. Her husband is also a veteran who has served as an Army medic.

She was recently selected to the prestigious Hoover Institution Veteran Fellowship Program, which invites veterans to make an impact on public policy with actionable solutions. She is active in several veterans' organizations and continues to serve the military community as an advocate and a mentor.
