Beauty and wellness company Organic Bunny recently announced its winner for the annual scholarship program. Annegret Janae from the University of Arkansas will receive her $1,000 scholarship in the fall semester of 2021.

SAN DIEGO, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 11, 2021 / Organic Bunny Scholarship just presented its winner for the academic year 2020-2021. The recent awardee is Annegret Jannasch, who will be receiving $1,000 worth of financial assistance from the beauty and wellness company in the fall semester of 2021.

Getting a college degree is a fulfilling educational attainment anyone can have. For other students, it's not just a matter of personal accomplishment, but also of improving one's life status. Having a higher education degree means getting a higher-paying job, a specialized career, or being well-respected in your field leading to more clients in the long run.

With all of these benefits of getting a college degree also comes the cost of earning it. Many students are struggling to pay their tuition fees and other academic-related expenses, which is easily seen in the so-called student debt crisis, a $ 1.6 trillion amount that plagues graduates well after completing their degree.

Organic Bunny desires to create a positive impact by being a part of the solution. By forming the Organic Bunny Scholarship, the company gives an annual $1,000 financial grant to deserving students in need of funds to finish their degrees. By helping one student at a time, Organic Bunny believes that they can make a difference in the communities that these future graduates may serve.

The recent essay prompt asked the applicants how they can use their education to make a global impact: "What is your major, and how do you plan to use it to make your impact on the world?"

Scholarship winner Annegret Janae, a Food Science Ph.D. student from the University of Arkansas explained how she can use her knowledge and experience in food fortification to solve global nutritional problems.

"I am highly enthusiastic about the development and innovation of food products that contribute to human well-being, reducing world hunger, and sustainability in the food production chain," she remarked.

Anngret recalled her research on rice fortification and elaborated how she can use these foundations to make products that are cost-effective, sustainable, and nutritious especially for people suffering from micronutrient deficiencies.

"During my master's program, I conducted research in the area of rice fortification to help alleviate micronutrient deficiencies worldwide. The goal of this research was to improve the nutrient content of rice by using a sustainable parboiling technology that uses only half of the amount of water that is traditionally used in parboiling," she wrote in her essay.

"Because this innovative fortification method was highly successful, I am currently working together with professors and partners from a rice parboiling plant in Burkina Faso to implement the fortification process in a country where the prevalence of micronutrient deficiencies is high and thus causes multiple diseases and a large number of deaths."

Annegret hopes to use her role as a food scientist to understand people's needs, build partnerships, and create food products that will help solve world hunger and nutritional problems.

"In my future career, I am hoping to combine my knowledge about food fortification and satiating properties of food to develop products that can help both, people who suffer from hidden hunger as a result of nutrient deficiency and people whose lives are compromised due to obesity."

"It has always been very important to me to get to know students and industry partners from different countries, to learn how to communicate with each other, and to exchange our knowledge of cultures and traditions. I believe that, by working together closely, food scientists can achieve an improvement in the world's food system, help those people who are in need for nutritious and healthy food, and protect our environment," she concluded.
