Lisa's Army was founded in 2013 by family and friends of Lisa Loonstyn-Golden. Lisa was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at the age of 20. She believed that no one should have to face cancer treatment on their own so recruited her friends and family to provide comfort and care for men, women, and children sharing her fight. The organization began supplying personalized Comfort Care Packages to individuals battling any type of cancer, an effort that still continues today.
"From the day she was diagnosed with cancer until she lost her battle with the disease, Lisa wanted to help people like her feel supported and maintain a positive outlook on life," says Marie Loonstyn-Golden, Lisa's mother and the organization's Executive Director. AIROS Medical supports various organizations working to enhance the quality of life for patients battling lymphedema, a chronic disease, and venous complications. Many lymphedema patients have had or are currently battling cancer, as many times cancer treatment can lead to the onset of this condition. The company was looking for a local entity in the Greater Philadelphia area for its employees and their families to volunteer with regularly.
