Funding Enables HIPAA-Compliant Collaborative Conversation Platform to Connect Care Teams and Families

DENVER, CO / ACCESSWIRE / April 29, 2021 / Serenity Engage, a secure, collaborative group messaging platform that connects everyone providing care to older adults through a mobile and web collaboration platform, today announced it has raised a $1.25 million seed investment. York IE led the round, with participation from Kokopelli Ventures, The Fund, and angel investors from the elder care community. This latest capital raise allows the startup to accelerate market adoption, raise awareness regarding the platform, and expand platform capabilities.

Launched in 2019, Serenity Engage is a HIPAA-compliant group messaging platform that streamlines communication between everyone providing care to an older adult - improving quality of care, strengthening relationships between care teams and families, saving caregivers time by streamlining workloads, and offering families greater peace of mind regarding their loved ones.

"By connecting various senior care providers with each other, and with families of those they serve, Serenity Engage keeps everyone up-to-date," said Katherine Wells, CEO and founder of Serenity Engage. "Leveraging the platform, senior care communities, health providers, and families can now easily communicate and coordinate elder care on a single platform."

It is not uncommon for an older adult's care team to consist of 5-15 disparate providers and caregivers from separate organizations - including senior care communities, hospice, home health, home care, pharmacy, and transportation services - among others. By consolidating communications between all providers and family members onto one platform, Serenity Engage streamlines care coordination, lowers costs, and improves caregiver retention. The platform has been proven to optimize senior care community operational efficiencies, resulting in savings of more than $50,000 per year.

"Thanks to Serenity, we're able to help educate and give peace to a family who is struggling with their mother's Alzheimer's - giving us the ability to save time normally spent on the telephone," said Jill Cooper, Business Director at At Home Senior Living, a 48-bed assisted living community in Cochran, Georgia.

"Serenity Engage streamlines our internal and external communications, keeping families well-informed and reducing phone and email tag with our third-party providers," said Ryan Ostow, Operator, Boonton Care Center, a 90-bed skilled nursing facility in Boonton, New Jersey.

The idea behind the Serenity Engage platform is rooted in personal experience, and CEO and Founder Katherine Wells' challenges in communicating with her aging parent's various care providers. Wells has a long history as a marketing executive at software companies, and helped scale Serena Software, InsightSoftware.com, Turnkey Solutions, and Botanic Technologies. Joining Wells on the Serenity leadership team is Rob Pinna, co-founder and VP of engineering. Pinna is a serial entrepreneur, a TechStars mentor, and previously served as chief product officer at IronCore Labs and Commercial Tribe.

"When evaluating companies, two of our biggest criteria are market opportunity and team," said Joe Raczka, co-founder, COO and managing partner at York IE. "Do we believe this team can execute and deliver on their vision? With Katherine and Rob, the answer is a resounding yes! Their complementary backgrounds, and genuine passion and desire to make a difference in senior care delivery, is a recipe for success."
