From Where Did the Idea for MustWatch Come?
The whole idea actually began thanks to the hit-show Game of Thrones. The day after the infamous Red Wedding episode aired, Mark, the app's co-founder, went into work itching to talk about it. He was met with resistance because not all of his coworkers had caught up to the most recent episode. He struggled to find an outlet for his excitement, and through his frustration, the MustWatch app was born. So, he began to ponder why it was so hard to find someone who wanted to discuss television shows. This was when he decided to team up with a friend and determine what other television problems they could solve.
So, they took some time and iterated on the MVP product that they would bring to Netcapital as an idea. The founders launched on Netcapital with a goal in mind of collecting enough funds to build an iOS app and get into the app store.
The rest is history. Their idea was a huge hit on Netcapital, as they raised over $30,000 between the months of May 2020 and July 2020. They launched the beta version of MustWatch on September 1, 2020, and by December 14th, the app was available in the app store.
In the process, they secured a partnership with BDC Capital, a financial services firm, that provided them with capital and the opportunity for future partnerships. Recently, they were featured in the Boston University Newspaper. While they have users across America, their platform is also gaining traction across the world, as they have users from France, Japan, Malaysia, Norway, Peru, and more!
