With a strong passion for education, equity, and social justice, Dr. Shawn Joseph is pleased to be involved in conversations that can help bridge learning gaps due to school closures and remote learning brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. "When used correctly, educational technology can open up greater possibilities for students and make the education sector less vulnerable to future shocks," he says.

The Campaign for Grade-Level Reading will be hosting the webinar, a collaboration of foundations, non-profits, states, and communities across America whose mission is to help children from low-income families achieve a better education. Their continued efforts will help end intergenerational poverty, close the achievement gap, and lower high school dropout rates.

Unfortunately, the COVID-19 crisis has further complicated matters as students cope with a tumultuous education experience moving between remote and in-person classes. "Learning loss is the biggest concern as students have missed school days, are facing holes in their curriculum, and spend much of their learning time troubleshooting technical problems," says Dr. Shawn Joseph. "School districts need to think deeply and strategically about how to accelerate learning and address the socio-emotional impact the trauma of this pandemic has had on children."

In Tuesday's webinar, Dr. Shawn Joseph and the esteemed presenters will discuss how research and evidence-based technology tools can help offset lost instructional learning time. During the conversation, they will answer some of the most pressing concerns, such as how to realize the full benefits of technology, must-haves for a successful EdTech integration, and how to instill confidence in these tools.
