  • A new initiative has been launched by eviivo employees who have banded together to support independent accommodation owners
  • Staff are calling on other brands to get involved and support small businesses with bookings during a very difficult time for the industry
  • eviivo will match the employee campaign, by funding the initial night for each stay

AUSTIN, TX / ACCESSWIRE / December 17, 2020 / A grassroots initiative is being launched by employees of online booking specialist eviivo to support the independent accommodation sector in the run up to Christmas.

The initiative has seen 100% of eviivo employees come together to prebook stays at B&Bs, hotels, inns and vacation rentals in a bid to help increase reservations and revenues into 2021.

As a way to give back to the industry and support the initiative, eviivo will be matching 1 night for every booking made, in lieu of spending on the traditional staff Christmas party, which won't be happening due to the pandemic.

Staff are now calling on other companies in the travel sector to get behind the cause and do the same for their employees, to generate meaningful funds for an industry hit hard by lockdown and travel restrictions.

Bookings will be paid upfront, however stays are planned for 2021 in order to respect all current safety guidelines. A "room" remains a private space and a safe space and most accommodation providers have already implemented enhanced cleaning and safety protocols.

Ruth Whitehead, HR Director, said: "2020 has been an incredibly tough year for everyone but it has been especially hard on the hospitality sector. Independent property owners have seen their businesses suffer gravely due to multiple lockdowns and travel restrictions.

"eviivo has not been spared but we've been thinking hard about how we can support our customers and the wider industry and it's great to see employees come together to help support the wonderful sector we work in, and even better to see the company back our bookings pledge."

This initiative follows an earlier campaign by eviivo to support the independent accommodation sector through the pandemic. Its Stay for Heroes website helped essential workers find accommodation across the US at the height of the crisis when hotels, vacation rentals, Inns & B&Bs were forced to close.

The booking platform also runs informative webinars to share advice and ideas from industry experts and property owners to help them adapt their businesses to survive the pandemic, and the company's engineers have worked hard and fast to adapt the system to allow accommodation providers to advertise and implement new safety measures - such as spacing bookings automatically.
