The Happiness Project is one of many initiatives that have been created for a greater cause. Mental illness has plagued the minds of many of the world's individuals, which is why people have taken it upon themselves to build communities to effectively combat the horrible effects of mental illness. One of the key initiatives for this valiant effort is to raise awareness about mental health.

The Happiness Project is an online brand that was built on positivity and wellness. They offer a wide array of colorfully designed merchandise such as shirts, hats, hoodies, and a lot more. The brand is laser-focused on its cause to raise awareness about mental health and ultimately help support those that are suffering through mental illness. They want those who are suffering to know that there are a lot of people and communities that are supporting them every step of the way.

The project was founded by Jake Lavin, who was inspired to establish the Happiness Project after losing a high school classmate to mental illness in 2017 after years and years of struggling with it. The tragic loss of his classmate, Nick Spaid, sparked something in him. Jake knew that he had to do something, so he created an initiative to raise awareness about mental health to his community and other people of the same age. He knew how hard it must have been for Nick to go through his battle alone, so he vows to never have anyone experience that ever again.

Lavin has always had a knack for business, and he has always dreamed of being a philanthropist and an entrepreneur. The Happiness Project is a true manifestation of both of his desires, allowing him to help other people in a financially sustainable way. He decided to drop out of college to pursue his passion for business, which allowed him to put more time and effort into his cause.

He called up his friends Joey DeFilippo and Mike Jones to initiate the Happiness Project. All three of them dropped out of college to work eight to twelve hours every single day inside Joey's basement. Starting out, all of their hoodies were hand-dyed and created by hand by the members of their team.

In a short span of time, they turned Joey's basement into an office space, complete with everything they needed to run the business. They have a full inventory management system and became a legal business in Illinois with accountants, financial advisors, and a partnership with a marketing firm that analyzed their ad data and helped them plan and schedule drops throughout the year.

The Happiness Project has seen tremendous success throughout its entire operation. They have worked with hundreds of influencers with their merchandise and have shipped to all 50 states in the USA. They even shipped their merchandise to countries like Japan, Australia, Canada, Europe, and many more.

The brand has seen a lot of growth on Instagram and is now sitting at over 70,000 followers compared to 12,000 at the start of summer. The Happiness Project quickly went from shipping 50 orders in a month to thousands of orders per month. Soon, the three are looking into moving out of the basement and into an office space.

The success of the Happiness Project is the success of many. The company donates 15% of its proceeds to the National Alliance on Mental Illness since that has always been the number 1 cause for the business. The project has definitely made the world a better place, and the three best friends aren't looking to stop any time soon.
