Founded by digital media veterans, Listory announces a $4M seed round led by Viola Ventures, Globis Capital and Rhodium

NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / November 17, 2020 / Listory, your go-to app for content that matters, launched out of stealth mode, announcing a $4 million seed funding round led by Viola Ventures, Globis Capital and Rhodium. The company was founded in March 2020 by Yaniv Gilad (CEO) and Yaron Galai (Active Chairman) after completing a management buyout from Outbrain, the world's leading discovery platform.

Unlike endless news and social clickbait feeds, Listory is a content refinery that filters the internet to a small handful of stories to perfectly suit your needs and desires, while redefining the way you consume content and achieve your goals.

Listory has iOS, Android and web applications that offer the most relevant content in all forms, be it articles, videos or podcasts. The company's refinery engine extracts the most recommended stories specifically for you, from hand-picked authoritativenewsletters and curators in each field. The stories are then further refined by finding those that were recommended by the people you follow and the amount of time spent reading them. Finally, you receive ‘superfood' content, chosen just for you, rather than an endless ‘empty calorie' feed.

Here's How it Works

When opening the app you'll see a list of stories that were refined especially for your delight. You can like, save or list your favorite stories to one of your reading lists. You can follow others to receive content from experts in your field. Listory allows you to create new lists, share them with others or keep them private. Since all stories are worth your time, there is a ‘read later' button to let you set the perfect time to read it, on your calendar.

As part of the app launch, Listory invites users to take the Listory Challenge and put its content recommendations to test. The company asked users if the first story they see is actually the best for them. If not, they can challenge Listory by submitting a better story that they've found elsewhere. For each submission, they get $0.10 credit to their account to eventually allow them to subscribe to a media outlet of their choice.

Listory's CEO Yaniv Gilad said: "We're excited and thankful for the investor support and user adoption and we're eager to keep refining our content. That's why we invite our users to challenge us, on a daily basis, to show that we truly believe in the content we present them with. Through this challenge, we'll get to know our users even better, keep improving our platform, and most importantly, provide the best content experience for everyone".

Yaron Galai, Outbrain Founder & CEO and Listory's Chairman said: "Listory is measuring your delight and appreciation rather than attention and infinite scrolling. Unlike many other social feeds, Listory is an opinionated, mission driven app that is shaping new content consumption habits while helping you get smarter and happier".

Shlomo Dovrat, General Partner at Viola Ventures, said: "The field of media content has been undergoing dramatic changes over recent years, and these require innovative solutions. As veteran investors in Outbrain, we're happy to have this opportunity to invest in Listory's Seed round, in a team that was born out of Outbrain and that is determined to change the way the world consumes content. "
