BOCA RATON, FL / ACCESSWIRE / November 16, 2020 / Dance Now is keeping contemporary dance alive in the Miami area and beyond. Karen Crew is a member of the board of directors for this esteemed dance organization, and she recently discussed how dance can benefit children throughout the Miami area and beyond.
"Programs for the arts are becoming less common in schools around the country," Karen Crew said. "Dance Now! Miami is keeping high caliber performance arts alive in the Miami area."
Karen Crew explained that dance can be physically and mentally beneficial for young children. She added that kids who take part in the arts and actively participate spend less time in front of smartphones, computers, and television screens.
"Dance is incredibly physical," Karen Crew explained. "It may not have the same reputation as football or basketball, but people who practice dance are incredibly fit. They have muscular strength, aerobic fitness, and superior endurance."
Karen Crew added that dance offers a number of non-physical health benefits as well. Kids who practice dance tend to have superior physical confidence and improved psychological well-being. They exhibit greater self-esteem, better social skills, and greater self-motivation to achieve goals they set for themselves.
"Dance is a creative physical activity," Karen Crew added. "It can be an excellent way for kids to release energy and practice being imaginative in a setting outside of home and school. Early childhood is the best time to develop creativity is a productive way to help kids do that."
