SURF CITY, NC / ACCESSWIRE / November 16, 2020 / Next month, on December 7, the newly renovated Loggerhead Inn and Suites - a historic, boutique motel on Topsail Island - will officially re-open.
"We're making state-of-the-art improvements to the Loggerhead Inn while preserving its legacy for a new generation of visitors," said T. Richard Stroupe, Jr., Owner of Loggerhead Holdings LLC. "The redevelopment of Loggerhead is part of our mission to improve hospitality services on Topsail Island and in Surf City, and promote local economic development."
Loggerhead Holdings purchased the motel in 2017 from the Resnick family, who owned it for more than a quarter-century. Originally built in the late 1950s and expanded in the 1980s, the motel was the first on the island and is still the largest.
With major design updates to the original late-50s blueprint, the completely renovated boutique motel has a modern aesthetic that also reflects its unique history. Guests can choose from 23 refined guest suites, nine two-bedroom suites with kitchenettes, and a two-bedroom apartment-style cottage featuring a full kitchen and a large living space. Families and groups can also enjoy a new outdoor activity area with an updated pool, grills, fire pits, gaming space, outdoor showers, and covered pavilion for social events.
Loggerhead Holdings is planning to add 24 more two-bedroom deluxe suites in late 2021 or early 2022.
Jacksonville, N.C.-based Break Point Construction led the redevelopment project, which employed locally sourced labor and material from Onslow and Pender Counties. Surf City, N.C.-based Carolina Retreats is operating the motel under a long-term leasing partnership with Loggerhead Holdings.
