Let's talk about Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation, please walk us through the company‘s business model.

Employees at 13 major locations create each customized aircraft, with almost 2,900 currently in service. We have a tremendous partner in our parent company, General Dynamics. Together with them, we refined our long-range plan and have been disciplined about following it. With General Dynamics' support, we have been able to invest for the long-term, consistently committing resources to researching and developing new aircraft, new technologies and new services that provide value to our customers. Our long-term strategy and disciplined approach to executing it have allowed us to introduce six new aircraft in the last decade alone: the Gulfstream G650, the G280, the G650ER, the G500, G600 and the new industry flagship, the G700.

Beyond that, we are very disciplined in our production and business practices. We're also committed to delivering on our promises, and even exceeding them. The investments we've made in our ground-based labs, our employees' development and our flight-test programs for the G500, G600 and G700 reflect that commitment.

With fierce competition from established players in your industry as well as new and nimble upstarts can you talk about how the history and longevity of Gulfstream help provide a competitive advantage when it comes to creating the right culture of integrity? For example, as a more mature company you've had many experiences over the years - good and bad - that startups likely haven't yet experienced.

At Gulfstream, we focus on our own aircraft programs and meeting the needs of our customers. We have a long history of delivering on our promises and bringing aircraft to market that frequently exceed what we say they will be able to do. The G500 and G600 are capable of longer ranges than initially announced. Our flagship G650ER created an entirely new class of range and speed when it entered service, and it remains the fastest, longest-range business jet available. And our latest, introduction, the G700 can fly farther faster than any other aircraft in the industry and does so with the most spacious cabin.

Customers and customer relationships are a critical part of any company's success. How do you make sure Gulfstream is advancing its customer and other stakeholder relationships in a way that's healthy and constructive?

Gulfstream has a long history of listening to our customers to anticipate their needs and the capabilities of their future aircraft.

The G500, G600 and G700 are our latest examples of this, and the aircraft introduce a number of innovations and award-winning new technologies that are revolutionizing the industry. The Symmetry Flight Deck, for example, features the first electronically linked active control sidesticks in civil aviation and the most extensive use of touchscreen technology in the industry. The Symmetry Flight Deck changes the game in business aviation and brings a new level of safety and performance to the skies.

Tell us about the brand's high-performance capabilities - what makes Gulfstream different from its competitors?

Gulfstream has a long tradition, going back to 1958 and the Gulfstream I, the first purpose-built business aircraft, of producing cutting-edge aircraft and delivering on the promises we make to our customers. Every succeeding aircraft generation has featured new innovations, and we have guaranteed or exceeded the standards we set for safety, performance and comfort.

One example of this can be seen with the G650ER, which holds the record for the longest, fastest business jet flight in history, from Singapore to Tucson, Ariz., at an average speed of 597 miles per hour/960 km per hour over a distance of 8,379 nm/15,518 km. The G650ER's performance beat the previous record by 44 minutes and more than 225 nm/417 km. The G650 and the G650ER combined hold more than 100 city-pair records, and they also feature an industry-leading and award-winning cabin.

During certification and testing of the G500 and G600, these aircraft demonstrated higher ranges than initially projected, allowing us to give our customers a better advantage with longer flights at faster speeds. We followed this up with the introduction of the G700 as the industry's only aircraft that can fly farther faster with the most spacious cabin.

What do clients expect when they fly on a Gulfstream?

When Gulfstream customers fly on a Gulfstream, they expect award-winning cabin design, the utmost in cabin comfort and the signature Gulfstream Cabin Experience that rejuvenates and revives over the ultralong flights Gulfstream aircraft can achieve. The Gulfstream Cabin Experience accomplishes this with 100% fresh, never replenished air, industry-leading low cabin altitudes, whisper-quiet noise levels and the Gulfstream panoramic windows that flood the cabin with natural light.

They also expect their aircraft to be extensions of their homes, offices and other personal spaces. As such, the transition from those ground-based spaces to the air should be seamless. Interior-design selections can achieve that, whether by incorporating a client's favorite materials or subtly weaving a preferred color scheme through carpets, leather and upholstery.

While airborne, passengers want the same opportunities they have on the ground - including working, sending and receiving emails, making calls and streaming video. Our engineers and designers keep an eye on the changing technology landscape to ensure we're providing passengers what they need and designing interiors that incorporate and address those elements.

Gulfstream owners also want to surround themselves with one-of-a-kind details that allow their personalities to come through, and some of those details can certainly be found on their other properties. Our clients expect high standards for quality and craftsmanship, and our goal is to exceed those expectations.

Last year, Gulfstream rocked the business jet industry with the launch of its new 19-passenger business jet G700 - what makes this model so popular and unique?

Introduced in October 2019, the all-new Gulfstream G700 powered into business aviation as the industry's new flagship. The newest aircraft from Gulfstream captures this leadership role with the most spacious cabin, the longest range at the highest speeds and the most advanced technology, all optimized by Gulfstream to deliver an unparalleled travel experience.

The G700 builds on Gulfstream's decades-long investment in research and development and ensuing successes. In the cabin, Gulfstream's research and development team brought together engineers, interior designers, flight crews and Gulfstream artisans to design the most comfortable and spacious cabin in the industry. The innovations include all-new lighting with true circadian rhythm capability. The Gulfstream-developed technology dynamically recreates sunrise and sunset through thousands of white and amber LEDs, gently coaxing passengers into their new time zone and greatly reducing the physical impact of traveling around the world in one stop. Combined with 20 Gulfstream panoramic oval windows, the industry's lowest cabin altitude, 100% fresh air and whisper-quiet sound levels, the G700 lighting and signature Gulfstream Cabin Experience practically give passengers the ability to arrive at their destination feeling more refreshed than when they departed.

The new, award-winning seat design on the G700 was also created by Gulfstream research and development talent. Gulfstream's industrial designers started with hand sketches and matured the design via meticulous modeling of each foam layer while working with the engineering teams to verify the viability and certification aspects of the design. The design involved extensive comfort studies with the various layers of cushioning fabricated by computer-controlled machining to create organic, anatomical shaping that enhances comfort for all body types.

Take our readers through Gulfstream's all-new, award-winning G700.

The G700 harnesses Gulfstream-developed technology both for pilots and passengers. The aircraft features the award-winning Symmetry Flight Deck and other new safety advancements. Along with active-control sidesticks and the industry's most extensive use of touch-screen technology, the flight deck also comes standard with another Gulfstream award-winner, the Predictive Landing Performance System. This system gives pilots advanced warning of potential runway excursions so they can adjust approaches or go around. All these technologies greatly improve situational awareness and pilot communication, so they stay alert and focused on flying.

The largest aircraft in the Gulfstream family, the G700 offers an outstanding range of 6,400 nautical miles/11,853 kilometers at its high-speed cruise of Mach 0.90 and 7,500 nm/13,890km at its long-range cruise speed of Mach 0.85. The ability to fly at faster speeds (Mach 0.90 versus Mach 0.80) gives customers more time, lower annual expenses for maintenance, parts and services, and shorter crew days for safer operations.

All-new, high-thrust Rolls-Royce Pearl 700 engines power the G700 and, along with newly designed Gulfstream winglets, ensure the aircraft achieves high performance capabilities with its larger cabin. The aircraft offers excellent takeoff and landing performance and can operate easily at weight-restricted, short-runway and high-altitude airports.

In the cabin, the tallest, widest and longest in the industry, passengers can extend their ground-based lifestyle to the air in up to five living areas.

The aircraft's extra-large ultragalley features a 10-foot/3.048-meter countertop, yet another industry best, and a passenger lounge or crew compartment. Gourmet meals can be catered with ease in the G700 kitchen, and chefs will enjoy the extra-large refrigerator and optimized storage. After holding a productive meeting, passengers can enjoy that gourmet meal at a six-place dining area with fully deployable table.

The options throughout the cabin are limitless - settle into club seating for intimate conversation or become immersed in the entertainment zone, where the aircraft's new speakerless system is embedded in the wall panels, giving new meaning to surround sound.

Those who plan to leverage the ultralong-range capability of the G700 will appreciate the master suite with bath, to get restful sleep. They'll also have the same amenities they are accustomed to at home, including a shower.

What's the next five years looking like for Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation?

Our focus is to continue to deliver our outstanding products around the world, increasing deliveries of the G500 and G600 and continuing to progress the flight-test program of the new industry flagship G700.

What is your projection of fleet requirement for Africa in the next 20 years?
As the world emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic, we expect the business-jet industry to see interest in flying privately increase. It's important to continue to innovate and ensure a solid support system and access for operators in the years to come.

Continued growth of the industry depends on further advancements in infrastructure and accessibility. The industry could best recognize the strategic benefits of business aviation with more dedicated business aviation airports and improved access to trained business aviation pilots, technicians and mechanics. As we continue to make positive strides in these areas, there will be more opportunities for the business-aviation market.

How has covid affected luxury and business aviation market in Africa/Nigeria?

The COVID-19 crisis and its impact on travel really make the case for business aviation. Business-jet operators and passengers have much more control over schedules and routes as well as health and safety when traveling on a private jet.

Customers have become increasingly interested in features of the cabin environment that enhance health and wellness. Gulfstream leads the industry in providing a healthy cabin experience with 100% fresh, never recirculated air, low cabin altitudes, whisper-quiet noise levels and an abundance of natural light thanks to Gulfstream's large, panoramic windows.

Gulfstream has recently added even more enhancements to the signature Gulfstream Cabin Experience with an air ionization system. Gulfstream's plasma ionization system, which operates whenever the aircraft environmental control system is active, works by emitting positive and negative oxygen ions that actively seek out and inactivate harmful molecules in the air and on surfaces.

The plasma system is available as a retrofit on the Gulfstream G650 and G650ER, G550, G450 and GV models, with additional installation options pending foreign certification. International certifications are currently in development.

What is Gulfstream doing in giving back to the community?
As a responsible corporate citizen, Gulfstream actively invests in the communities where employees live and work. In line with the company's value of integrity, responsible stewardship is important to Gulfstream and its employees, whether we act as stewards of our communities' health or tomorrow's leaders.

Gulfstream also recognizes that our industry depends on science, technology, engineering

and math (STEM) education. Our education outreach programs are committed to enhancing and cultivating STEM learning and fostering tomorrow's leaders. We partner with our local public-school boards and higher education institutions to expand learning beyond the classroom and provide opportunities for students to see how the skills they learn in school can translate into careers. Gulfstream employees take an active role in education programs through volunteering, advisement and hands-on instruction.

What has been Gulfstream's response to the impact of covid19?

Since news of the coronavirus emerged, we have proactively implemented disease-mitigation measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization (WHO). We have implemented social distancing measures, established on-site temperature screenings, provided on-site employees with personal protective equipment, increased the frequency and intensity of facility cleanings and encouraged employees to stay home if they feel unwell.

We have also turned our philanthropic efforts toward supporting the communities in which we live and work by donating supplies and making financial contributions to hospitals, governments and non-profit organizations on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

What is your projection for business aviation globally and in Africa over the next 5 years?

Gulfstream has seen good interest from potential and existing customers in Africa and is optimistic about the growth of the business-jet industry in the region. The market has responded well to Gulfstream's large-cabin, long- and ultralong-range aircraft offerings.
