Adial Pharmaceutical, Inc.

CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA / ACCESSWIRE / October 1, 2019 / Adial Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADIL)(NASDAQ:ADILW), a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of treatments for addiction, today announced that it has submitted its Clinical Trial Application (CTA) to commence the Phase 3 clinical trial of the Company's lead drug candidate, AD04, (the "Phase 3 Trial" or the "Trial") for the treatment of alcohol use disorder (AUD) in genetically targeted patients with the Swedish Medical Products Agency.

"The filing of our CTA marks another important milestone, as we continue to execute on our plan," stated William Stilley, Chief Executive Officer of Adial Pharmaceuticals. "Sweden represents an attractive market to conduct clinical trials for AD04, due to the prevalence of the targeted genetics, and Sweden can serve as a reference country in providing scientific advice and assessing market applications across Europe. For these reasons, we chose to submit our first CTA in Sweden, but expect to follow quickly with applications in Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Finland. We are excited to begin our Phase 3 program to validate AD04 as a treatment for the pervasive and devastating disease known as alcohol use disorder, which represents a $36 billion addressable potential market in the U.S. alone."

About Adial Pharmaceuticals, Inc.

Adial Pharmaceuticals is a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on the development of treatments for addictions. The Company's lead investigational new drug product, AD04, is a genetically targeted therapeutic agent for the treatment of Alcohol Use Disorder (AUD). A Phase 2b clinical trial of AD04 for the treatment of AUD showed promising results in reducing frequency of drinking, quantity of drinking and heavy drinking (all with statistical significance), and no overt safety concerns (there were no statistically significant serious adverse events reported). The Company plans to commence a Phase 3 clinical trial using AD04 for the potential treatment of AUD in subjects with certain target genotypes, which are to be identified using the Company's proprietary companion diagnostic genetic test. AD04 is also believed to have the potential to treat other addictive disorders such as opioid use disorder, gambling, and obesity. www.adialpharma.com
