With new "farm-to-flask" distilleries, mountain spas and expanded historical sites, there are more ways to discover Nevada in 2019
CARSON CITY, NV / ACCESSWIRE / January 10, 2019 / TravelNevada's eclectic experiences expand in 2019 with the addition of new infrastructure, restaurants and distilleries, rural road trips, cultural museums and outdoor adventure. Known for its entertainment, gaming and wide open spaces, Nevada's treasures transcend city life. Up north, the city of Fallon will become a backdrop for the major motion film, "Top Gun: Maverick"; and the century-old Stewart Indian School will reopen as a new cultural museum. Down south, the new Death Drive road trip brings travelers through ghost towns, Death Valley National Park, desert art and wineries. With master renovations to hospitality destinations in Reno and Las Vegas, and the expansions of state parks, Nevada's "Don't Fence Me In" ethos brings travelers from neon to nature.

Adventure and Entertainment
Death Drive, Southern Nevada - TravelNevada unveiled its Death Drive road trip which takes travelers through Southern Nevada sites, including Death Valley, Mount Charleston and Rhyolite ghost town. The 328-mile trip lasts about three days and allows visitors to experience Pahrump's award winning wineries and quirky coffin shop, and a former ranch owned by Howard Hughes, just outside of Las Vegas. The lowest, hottest and driest place in North America, Death Valley, reveals natural salt beds and cracked terrain, while the Goldwell Open Air Museum, right next to Rhyolite ghost town, features seven outdoor sculptures. At the end of the trip, travelers can officially boast that they survived the Death Drive.
Fly LINQ, Las Vegas - Fly LINQ this January debuted the first and only zipline on the Las Vegas Strip, allowing travelers to soar 12 stories above the bustling LINQ Promenade all the way to the High Roller, the LINQ's Ferris wheel. Now, visitors have the option to experience the Fly LINQ zipline, High Roller Ferris wheel and shop and dine in the LINQ promenade. Upcoming additions to the LINQ Promenade include I Love Sugar, which is expected to be the biggest candy store in the world, and Jimmy Kimmel's Comedy Club, set to open this spring.
The Loop, Reno - The Loop, a social gathering place opened in South Reno in late 2018. The innovative, family-friendly space has distinct restaurants with locally sourced menus, upscale bars, boutique bowling, roller skating, an indoor ropes course and an indoor sports complex. Of the new dining options, Zeppelin was inspired by the innovative spirit of the World's Fair, offering craft cocktails and shareable dishes within a vintage vibe.
"Top Gun: Maverick," Fallon - The highly anticipated sequel to the 1986 "Top Gun" will film in Fallon this year. The first "Top Gun" was partially filmed in Fallon at the Naval Air Station. The sequel is expected to premiere in June 2020
Core Arena, Las Vegas - Core Arena, the first and only permanent outdoor equestrian center in Downtown Las Vegas, opened at the Plaza Hotel & Casino in Dec. 2018. The center opened just in time for participants of the National Finals Rodeo to practice during the 10-day event. Core Arena will act as the city's newest outdoor event venue, year-round.
Resort-Casinos, Dining & Hospitality
The Spa at Silver Legacy, Reno - THE ROW debuted The Spa at Silver Legacy in the fall of 2018. It's northern Nevada's newest and most expansive luxury wellness destination, with a 21,000-square-foot treatment facility. The Spa includes The Salon, offering premier services in hair, skin and beauty; The Boutique, offering luxury fashion accessories and premium wellness essentials; and the Fitness Center, featuring virtual reality trails on state-of-the-art Technogym™ equipment.
Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, Reno joined 24 restaurants at THE ROW in late 2018. As part of a master renovation of over $100 million, Ruth's Chris adds to the fine dining offerings of the three interconnected resort-casinos (Silver Legacy, Eldorado and Circus Circus Reno).
The Sparks Nugget, Reno will open the region's first true Chophouse this year, mimicking that of Anthony Bourdain's inside the M Resort in Las Vegas.
Park MGM, Las Vegas - The newest destination on the Las Vegas Strip, Park MGM targets travelers seeking a high-end, intimate experience that favors quality over quantity. New nightlife offerings include Juniper Cocktail Lounge, an all-gin bar. On the Record, a speakeasy stocked with vinyl records, also opened on New Year's Eve 2019. The resort is home to the Park Theater where Cher, Lady Gaga, Aerosmith and Britney Spears have booked residencies in the upcoming year.
NoMad, Las Vegas - Located on Park MGM's top floors, NoMad is a hotel-within-a-hotel that opened in October 2018. The luxury resort offers 293 distinct rooms and suites.
Eataly, Las Vegas - Park MGM also debuted Eataly this December, an Italian marketplace featuring two restaurants, a chef's table, three bars, a cafe, six fresh counters for dining and shopping, and over 5,000 retail products. The location is the first in the Southwestern United States and occupies over 40,000 square feet.
Historical and Cultural Experiences
Bently Heritage Estate Distillery, Minden - Christopher Bently will open the highly anticipated, Bently Heritage Estate Distillery in Minden early 2019, one of only four estate distilleries in the U.S. The distillery occupies the renovated 100-year-old Minden flour mill. In adherence to its "farm-to-flask" commitment, Bently Heritage sources all grains for distilling from the nearby Bently Ranch.
Stewart Indian School, Carson City - The Stewart Indian School, a federal boarding school for American Indian children from 1890 to 1980, will open a new onsite museum in 2019. Currently, visitors can walk the grounds while listening to an audio tour accessible via cell phone.
Virginia Truckee Railroad, Virginia City - The Virginia Truckee Railroad celebrates 150 years of rich history in 2019. From May to Oct., travelers can enjoy a leisurely ride on the restored railroad, as the conductor shares anecdotes from the railroad's past.
Walker River State Recreation Area, Southern Nevada - The new Walker River State Recreation Area offers public access to land that had been closed to the public for over 100 years. Upon completion, the state park will include four units: the Pitchfork Ranch, Rafter 7 Ranch, Flying M Ranch and the Nine Mile Ranch.
Cannibation Cannabis Museum, Las Vegas - The world's only immersive cannabis museum opened in October 2018. It offers an immersive art museum and cannabis-themed experience in the heart of Downtown Las Vegas' Fremont Street Experience, at Neonopolis.
The Neon Museum, Las Vegas - The Neon Museum, near Fremont Street, expands its Boneyard exhibit by nearly a third. Filmmaker Tim Burton will debut an art exhibition in October 2019.
