Events Highlight Jerash's Socially Responsible Global Employment Practices and Job Opportunities for Syrian Refugees

NEW YORK, NY / ACCESSWIRE / September 24, 2018 / Jerash Holdings (US), Inc. (NASDAQ: JRSH) (the "Company"), a producer of high-quality textile goods for leading global brands, today announced that Oryana Awaisheh,
Executive Manager of Jerash's Jordanian facilities, will be one of five featured presenters at the 10th Annual United Nations Private Sector Forum to be held on September 24, 2018, at the UN Headquarters building in New York, NY. The forum, titled "Building and Investing in Peace for All," will be attended by more than 250 leading executives from global business, civil society, government, Global Compact Local Networks, and the United Nations.

"Jerash is honored to be one of five presenters at this year's United Nations Private Sector Forum," said Sam Choi, Chairman of Jerash. "This event specifically explores how business and government can work together to play a key role in promoting peace by contributing to and investing in sustainable development, often including the announcement of new initiatives by the business partners participating in this forum."

Awaisheh will also present at an event co-hosted by The Tent Partnership for Refugees and the World Bank entitled "The Role of the Private Sector in Addressing the Global Refugee Crisis." The event will be moderated by Dr. Jim Kim, President of the World Bank, and Hamdi Ulukaya, CEO of Chobani and Founder of the Tent Partnership for Refugees. Senior representatives from the Government of Jordan, the Government of the Netherlands, and the Government of the United Kingdom will make remarks. Jerash is the first Jordanian company to become a member of TENT and will highlight its commitment to increasing employment of Syrian refugees in the coming months.

At both events, Jerash will highlight its global employment practices and commitment to creating fair and rewarding employment opportunities in Jordan. In particular, Jerash will also highlight its role as the first company in Jordan to launch hiring programs focused on Syrian refugee camps, providing a path forward for displaced families.

"We look forward to presenting the Jerash story at the UN and World Bank Forums, showcasing our efforts to create sustainable, rewarding employment for many different ethnicities and cultures that call Jordan home," said Oryana Awaisheh, Executive Manager of Jerash's in Jordan. "Jerash has a long history of providing well-paying jobs and excellent working conditions for our employees, which include local Jordanian workers as well as a large immigrant workforce from countries around the world. We were also the first company in Jordan to focus on creating jobs specifically for Syrian refugees in the UN camps located in Jordan, providing a path forward for these displaced workers. We are committed to expanding our hiring opportunities for Syrian refugee workers as we continue to grow our employee base, as we fully recognize that providing rewarding employment opportunities to displaced people is one of the key steps in securing a future for these refugees."

Said Choi: "The UN rightly notes that business activities have both direct and indirect positive impacts to peace. This is accomplished through the creation of job new opportunities, advancing national economic development, making sustainable investments in cities and towns, creating inclusive hiring practices that build good relations between diverse ethnicities and communities and promoting the best practices in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment and anticorruption. Most importantly, businesses can advance all of these goals profitably for stakeholders and shareholders, making investments in peace also good investments in business."

"Jerash is pleased to exemplify all of these aspects through our more than 15-year involvement in Jordan, as we have worked closely with the government to build a growing, profitable global business providing sustainable, inclusive jobs to an incredibly diverse workforce as we manufacture for some of the best-known global garment brands in the world," concluded Choi.

Other presenters at the UN Forum include Mr. Paul Rawlinson, Global Chair of Baker McKenzie; Mr. Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever; Ms. Sharan Burrow, General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation; and Mr. Ren Hongbin, Chairman of Chine National Machinery Industry Corporation.

Presenters making commitments at the TENT forum in addition to Jerash include the Shell Foundation/Grofin, Citibank, KOIS Invest, and Paramount Fine Foods.
