OTTAWA, ON / ACCESSWIRE / April 3, 2018 / The SunContract platform is here, and next-generation mechanisms are set to power the modern world. On April 1, 2018, as a precursor to the launch of the platform, the team released its Stage 2 energy-trading platform - finished for public use.

It is a widely known fact that today's electric power system is shockingly inefficient in terms of resource use, environmental preservation and the market economy. Universalizing access to clean, modern and efficient energy services is at the heart of our ability as an energy community to assist in the delivery of globally agreed sustainable development goals and climate agreements. The SunContract team and its investors believe that decentralized technologies and business models are the only way to effectively address these issues and they are pioneering the disruption of the energy sector by being the first company to launch a platform of this kind, finished for public use.

The SunContract team has been backed by legislative advisors, blockchain experts and a talented development team who have contributed to the development of the platform over the last 9 months. It has been a highly collaborative process, one which has involved considerable planning, effort and investment from both the public, as well as the team.

On April 1st, the company achieved its greatest milestone thus far, as dozens of SunContract pioneers began receiving electricity by way of the platform. In addition to this, 930 SunContract investors registered to become pioneers who will form the customer base for the company over the next couple of months as it works towards further expansion. The SunContract project is currently being implemented in Slovenia - a country that very strongly supports blockchain based businesses.

The upcoming launch event on April 13, 2018 means that the company is delivering on the key strategic objectives that were established prior to the token sale - as part of its roadmap for 2018. The platform launch will be an extension of the EU Commission-organized Smart Villages Event. Some of the speakers in attendance include the European Commissioner for Transport - Violeta Bulc, Member of the European Parliament - Franc Bogovic, State Secretary - Tadej Slapnik, among others.

In particular, the platform will enable its users to:

  • Eliminate the middleman who makes the process inefficient and costly
  • Buy or sell domestically produced electricity at price decided by market and not dictated by utility companies
  • Conveniently purchase electricity using the mobile/web-based app
  • Trade electricity with peers all over one's jurisdiction
  • Save on electricity costs by choosing which price and from whom to purchase your electricity
  • Take advantage of blockchain technology benefits which make the business model extremely transparent and efficient

The SunContract platform will focus on increasing efficiency in the energy sector in Europe - for a start - and then venture into other continents. The company has strategically decided to begin its venture in Europe due to the liberalized energy market conditions in Europe that make the continent more receptive to this business model, and the large-scale adoption of renewable energy.
