General Scott Will Focus On Securing VA Acceptance of the Company's Prana Line for Veterans Suffering Chronic Pain

DENVER, CO / ACCESSWIRE / February 21, 2017 / United Cannabis Corporation (OTCQB: CNAB) (the "Company" or "United Cannabis") today announced the appointment of Major General, USAF (retired) David Scott to the Company's Advisory Board.

The Company's Advisory Board is tasked with helping the Company advance and protect the development of its proprietary formulations, including managing the clinical trial process, patent protection, new product research and development, as well as identifying and pursuing potential strategic relationships and markets.

Gen. Scott completed a 36-year military career as a pilot and commander of combat and combat training organizations within the US and abroad. The latter part of his career found him in leadership positions at Fort Bragg North Carolina, at US Special Operations Command headquarters in Tampa, and in Iraq and Afghanistan where he was responsible for the readiness, endurance, emotional well-being, and medical support of troops and families. His appreciation for the toll of continuous combat operations on service members and concern over the limitations and dangers of current pain management medications led to his interest in medical marijuana. General Scott now resides in Tampa, Florida, where he serves on the board of eight non-profit organizations dedicated to supporting veteran issues, preserving WWII vessels, and community development initiatives.

Commenting on the appointment, General Scott stated, "After retirement I've been amazed at the number of veterans who have turned to medical marijuana in states where it's been legalized. Almost universally, those I ask report life-changing relief from symptoms they couldn't overcome with traditional pain management methods. We're talking about bodies that have been through airplane crashes, a thousand parachute landings, devastating IED injuries, and years of carting 100 pounds of battle gear and weapons on their back."

The General went on to say, "Abuse of prescription meds is not uncommon among this community of stoic soldiers who are in chronic pain and are seeking relief. I believe it's time our federal government resolved the continuing debate on the pros and cons of prescribing non- or low-THC cannabis pain management medications. We owe our veterans another VA-authorized treatment option that may be more effective and ultimately less dangerous than we have right now. I look forward to working with UCANN to explore ways we can move forward toward that goal."

Earnest Blackmon, Chief Executive Officer of United Cannabis, added, "We are thrilled that General Scott has agreed to join our Advisory Board. His experience in service to our country provides him with a deep understanding of the plight of our veterans, as evidenced by his dedication to their well-being since leaving combat. He has seen first-hand the impact medical cannabis can have on the health of veterans and he is determined to make it available to all who would benefit from access. "

Blackmon continued, "We continue to amass a wealth of evidence supporting the safety and efficacy of our Prana products, and General Scott's experience in dealing with the bureaucracy and red tape associated with the federal government will be invaluable as we work to get Prana approved for patients across the country."
