Project Overview

The company executed an option to purchase the 6-acre site in 2015, and City Council unanimously approved a new ordinance in the city which allows cannabis cultivation in a specific zone within Coachella, California. Cultivation Technologies will provide key services to operators on the site, including the license for the Coachella brand of premium cannabis. The company also formally submitted its CUP application to the city for a state-of-the-art facility — the first CUP submittal in Coachella.

Cultivation Technologies' first project will feature four (4) cultivation centers of 22,000 square feet each (with 22,000 square feet of canopy via 25-foot vertical grow system with proprietary LED lighting), a manufacturing facility for extracts of 9,000 square feet, a testing center of 4,000 square feet, and a distributor/transporter of 4,000 square feet. The full site was planned in accordance with forthcoming regulations and state licensing in California, commonly known as "MMRSA" (the Medical Marijuana Regulation & Safety Act).

Cultivation Technologies President, Justin Beck, stated "we commend the City of Coachella for adopting an ordinance which aligns with MMRSA — including elements of the supply chain mandated by the new regulatory framework. Our company is committed to an operating environment which aligns with MMRSA in advance of its final implementation. We are also dedicated to bringing economic development and opportunity to the City of Coachella through this project and our brand of cannabis and cannabis products."

Coachella Branded Cannabis

After comprehensive market research which included 392 patient and consumer survey responses in multiple states — Cultivation Technologies developed a cannabis brand entitled "Coachella." Unlike many emerging brands in the cannabis industry, Coachella products are defined by a commitment to unrivaled quality through the production process via controlled atmosphere within gas-tight buildings, comprehensive testing, and proprietary lighting, racking, and irrigation systems.

All cannabis and cannabis products produced at Cultivation Technologies' Coachella, California site will undergo extensive testing for both cannabinoid/terpene content and toxicity, and will require quality assurance by an independent party on-site. The company has planned pharmaceutical and food-grade "clean rooms" for cultivation which are gas-tight, reducing or even eliminating potential contaminants and pathogens. Coachella products will be grown in an environment which is completely free of toxic pesticides, driven by a proprietary technology which blends carbon dioxide, nitrogen, and the deprivation of oxygen via scheduled treatments to control pests and augment plant health.

Richard Probst, Chief Operating Officer of Cultivation Technologies, added "the production environments we are building are unparalleled, and our first 6-acres could rank among the most state-of-the-art cannabis facilities in the world. With our proprietary LED technology and vertical grow systems, we believe our brand will resonate with patients who want the highest quality medicine available in California."

Timeline

The first 6-acre facility is slated for completion in November 2016, with branded products expected to launch in February 2017. On behalf of its operators, Cultivation Technologies is accepting requests for production off-take from California dispensaries. The company is presently negotiating with several project financiers, and expects to commence site improvements over the summer.
