CES is the world's largest tech conference, hosted in January every year, and sets the tone for the year's upcoming technological scene. Data privacy has emerged as one of the leading topics this year, with IoTeX presenting their solutions following Blackberry's keynote presentation on the lack of consumer trust in IoT devices.2
IoTeX is tackling edge device privacy and security by introducing several novel cryptographic primitives into their blockchain transaction structure, including secure multi-party computation (SMPC)3 and threshold signatures4. Further, IoTeX debuted a lightweight, blockchain-compatible trusted execution environment (TEE)5 for secure edge device authentication, role-based access control, ID and device management capabilities, and end-to-end trust for IoT devices.
TEE's enable secure computation and privacy protection within an adversarial computing environment by isolating code execution within an application. Their deployment in IoT devices can help maintain their integrity close to the edge while retaining scalability.

Privacy concerns remain endemic following persistent data scandals and centralized control of IoT back-end infrastructure, largely precluding their adoption for sensitive computation that requires high levels of privacy and security.
