Florida Property & Casualty Association Member Insurance Companies Ready to Assist Homeowners after Hurricane Michael

TALLAHASSEE, FL / ACCESSWIRE / October 12, 2018 / In the aftermath of Hurricane Michael, the member companies of the Florida Property & Casualty Association (FPCA), an industry trade group comprised of Florida-based homeowners insurance companies, are prepared to help their customers.

The FPCA echoes the warnings and advice issued by Florida's Office of Insurance Regulation and Florida's CFO regarding ways to avoid scams and fraudulent contractors. Policyholders should call their agent, or insurance company's claims hotline, prior to signing any repair contract, and be wary of giving away their policy benefits and proceeds to a third party vendor.

FPCA representatives are working directly with the state's Insurance Commissioner as well as Florida's CFO to stay informed on post-storm developments and are collaborating with these offices on the best plan for recovery. Florida's Office of Insurance Regulation requires insurers in this state to have enough capital and reinsurance to pay for catastrophic hurricane losses of more than two storms the size of Hurricane Andrew.
