The beautiful and historic Aero Theatre is a cozy yet popular cinema showing classics and independent releases.
Extending southeast from the Santa Monica Pier, the Ocean Park neighborhood is mostly residential but also features even more galleries, coffee shops, and boutique shopping. The Santa Monica Airport serves private jet owners and has a fascinating Museum of Flying, observation decks, and gardens. The bi-monthly antique market draws a huge crowd. The airport's old hangars are also a popular destination for large-scale events and fundraisers.
Pico runs parallel to I-10. It ends at the beach and links to Santa Monica High School and Santa Monica College. It is said to be the city's most diverse neighborhood. Local businesses recently paired with the nonprofit Beautify Earth organization to have murals created on the sides of buildings. Pastel colored hotels, Palisades Park, and Tongva Park make Ocean Avenue one of Santa Monica's most iconic places. Unique hotels and open-air restaurants line the avenue. The famous Santa Monica Pier is nearby with a vintage amusement park, aquarium, and live music. Ocean Front Walk is home to the Original Muscle Beach with its assortment of workout equipment.
Wilshire begins at Ocean Avenue and runs through the city into Beverly Hills and Downtown Los Angeles. Ending at Palisades Park, it borders Third Street Promenade and Douglas Park with its natural landscaping, reflecting pools, and playing fields. Mexican restaurants and designer consignment shops are prominent businesses in the neighborhood as are popular casual eateries and bars and lounges.
