When asked what his favorite place is to visit, Asimos replied that he is a huge fan of California's Wine Country. As he noted, it's not too far of a drive from his Portland home and he especially enjoys the central coast wine country.
"My favorite area in this region is Santa Barbara. They have quite a few fantastic Pinot Noirs in the area. There is something really spectacular about the area in general," Asimos noted, adding that the Santa Barbara pier is especially amazing, and that he always makes it a point to head there for some spectacular fish and chips.
As for his biggest pet peeve, Asimos said it bothers him when people assume that because he works with wine and knows so much about it, that he is not fond of Merlot.
"We've all seen Sideways and remember when Paul Giamatti freaked out over the merlot, but this act has shifted how people feel about Merlot without even knowing why," he said.
While he said there are a lot of great wineries that make fine merlots, Asimos said Duckhorn is currently one of his favorites.
When asked if he has any advice for other people, Asimos said it's important to pursue whatever passions they have in life.
"I have an amazing job and a wonderful life, and it all comes from my attempts to live my dream, which I can confidently say I am doing. Ultimately follow your passion and commit yourself," he said.
