Knick to Review Polymetalic Potential At Trecesson

Tuesday, 11 November 2014 08:31 AM

Topic:

Val-d'Or, Quebec / ACCESSWIRE / November 11, 2014 / Knick Exploration Inc. (TSX-V: KNX) at present Knick is continuing to work on advancing its flagship Trecesson Gold-Tungsten-Base-metal Property. In early November 2014 preliminary mapping, prospecting and sampling was performed on the Mallich Area base-metal occurrence of the Trecesson Property as part of Knick's review and verification process of its polymetallic potential of the property. The work was performed in the vicinity of historical drill holes M-9 and M-12 which intersected 1.28% Zn, 0.33% Cu, 0.32oz Ag/t over 15.2 m, and 0.69% Zn, 0.17% Cu over 19.8 m, respectively (43-101, Trecesson Property, 2013). A total of 13 historical trenches and 2 drill hole casings were located and ten grab samples were collected. Sample results are pending.

Although 1951 historical drilling results were sub-economical at the time, the widths of the mineralized intersection suggest that there is potential for similar width of potentially higher grades along strike and at depth.

The Mallich Area is situated in the northwest portion of Knick's 8.95 square kilometer Trecesson Property 16 km northwest and 75 km north-northwest of the cities of Amos and Val d'Or, Quebec, respectively. The considerable size of the Trecesson Property and its multiple areas of significant mineralization such as the Cossette Gold Vein System, plus 845m potential strike length and ready to develop tonnage by drilling and the Chib-Kayrand Tungsten-Gold Area with 6 vein systems with a combined strike length of 1.835km, lend themselves to division into portions for various potential joint venture opportunities.

Historical Exploration Work on The Mallich Area :

Exploration work on the Mallich sulphide zone occurred from 1965 to 1976. In 1956, G.J.R. Hannah completed geological mapping and described felsic volcanic rocks and a gabbro dyke. Sulphide mineralization in the form of pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite and sphalerite was described, but no results are given. Also in 1956, the same author described 19 holes totalling 1,518.9 m. Best results were obtained in Hole M-3 with 4.29% Zn over 1.06 m, Hole M-9 with 1.28% Zn, 0.33% Cu and 0.32 oz Ag/t over 15.2 m, and Hole M-12 with 0.69% Zn and 0.17% Cu over 19.8 m. In 1965, McIntyre Porcupine Mines Ltd. drilled one short hole totalling 12.6 m. Felsic volcanic rocks were intersected, but no anomalous results were obtained.

Exploration work resumed in 1986, with an IP survey by Radisson Mining Resources Inc. that outlined two anomalous zones; five holes numbered TRE-85-15, 17, 18 19 and 20 totalling 714 m were subsequently drilled. The best results were obtained in Hole TRE-85-17 with 2.36% Cu, 0.126% Zn and 20.5 g/t Ag over 1.03 m. Later in the same year, Radisson resumed drilling with six more holes on the Mallich area. The holes were numbered TRE-86-22 to 27 and totalled 1,175.1 m. The best values were obtained from Hole TRE- 86-25 with 1.22 g/t Au over 1.27 m, and 1% Cu, 18.5 g/t Ag and 0.34 g/t Au over 1 m (reference : 43-101, Trecesson Property, 2013, P.35).
