The UL mark is the single most accepted product accreditation in the United States and is generally a pre-requisite for permitting and insurance.

Underwriters Laboratories was established in 1894, and is the world's largest non-profit product safety certification organization, with global name recognition and acceptance. Products intended to be used in the workplace must be listed by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) such as Underwriters Laboratories which are accredited by the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
