Innovative Programs Empower Members Through Education and Self-Management

ATLANTA, GA / ACCESSWIRE / October 15, 2014 / OneCare LLC, an innovative healthcare IT company headquartered at the Advanced Technology Development Center at Georgia Tech, announced today that the OneCare platform has been chosen by InHealth Mutual of Ohio to host and implement several innovative care management programs, beginning with a Depression Management program launching in November. With the announcement of another major collaboration project, OneCare is once again proving itself as a leader in providing effective connected health solutions with its innovative care management platform.

"InHealth Mutual is honored to partner with OneCare in the creation of this innovative, member-centered tool helping people diagnosed with depression work with their chosen support team to better manage it," said Dr. Barbara Freeman, M.D., FAAFP, CCM, Chief Administrative, Medical & Quality Officer of InHealth.

"As the only nonprofit health insurance Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP) in Ohio, we actively promote these and other types of innovations that elevate the effectiveness of care, empower members through disease knowledge and self-management and ultimately drive down costs. In fact, our mission is to provide quality, affordable health insurance that is responsive to the needs and wants of all Ohioans. We truly believe this new program will help remove barriers, increase wellness outcomes and improve quality of life for participants," continued Dr. Freeman.

The OneCare Platform was selected to deliver a fully encompassing program that provides education, assessments, mood logs, journals, as well as diet, exercise and medication tracking through mobile and web-based user experiences. Throughout each week of the program, multiple lifestyle factors are logged to help identify trends in member behavior as it correlates to depression. Enrolled participants are encouraged to engage a local support team of family and friends as part of the program as well as their primary care providers and other professional care givers. Providing secure messaging and data sharing as well as alerts and reminders via email, text message or voicemail, the Platform enables InHealth to effectively manage care collaboration amongst the local support team, professional care team, and in-house disease educators.

Another important facet of the Depression Management Program is medication management. Participants can input medications they are currently prescribed (or have been in the past) as well as dosage information and instructions. Schedules are then created, allowing participants to receive medication reminders and track compliance along with any side effects.

Gary Austin, CEO of OneCare, said "OneCare is thrilled to work in concert with such an innovative insurer as InHealth Mutual of Ohio to improve the lives of its members while lowering the cost of care by providing simple yet effective tools for self-care and population health management."

About InHealth Mutual:

InHealth Mutual is a nonprofit insurer - a consumer operated and oriented plan (CO-OP) - built for members by members to provide quality, affordable health insurance that is responsive to the needs and wants of all Ohioans. It is different from the traditional insurers given its nonprofit status and focus on individuals and small businesses which will manifest in a governing board of directors that includes members (policy holders) after the initial start-up period. In addition, profits will be used to lower the cost of care, enhance benefits or decrease premiums. Being accountable to members versus stockholders is a paradigm shift InHealth believes will result in better health insurance for the people it covers. In 2014, InHealth is offering insurance products to individuals, small businesses and groups through brokers and private exchanges. This is in preparation to expand in 2015 to also offer insurance products on the Health Insurance Marketplace (Exchange). InHealth Mutual is a trade name of Coordinated Health Mutual, Inc.
