On Monday 6th Oct, Technomed Telemedicine will announce the release of the mobile version of its award-winning remote ECG interpretation and analysis software, ECG Cloud Mobile

Kent, UK / ACCESSWIRE / Oct 11, 2014 / On Monday 6th Oct, on the opening day of the Heart Rhythm Society's annual conference, Technomed Telemedicine is set to announce the release of the mobile version of its award-winning remote ECG interpretation and analysis software, ECG Cloud Mobile. The new update to the app allows cardiologists and physiologists using iPads and Android tablets to analyse and report on ECGs securely from anywhere with internet access. The ability to work remotely allows both internal Technomed staff and cardiologists at secondary care ECG Cloud subscribers more flexibility and increased utilisation.

ECG Cloud is currently used in the analysis of many thousands of ECGs each week across the UK. With the integration of medical devices and mobile devices becoming increasingly common, Technomed hopes to keep improving the usability and accuracy of traditional diagnosis and screening equipment.

The improved efficiency brings cardiology expertise to primary care, allowing GPs to reduce referrals even further as Technomed grows its workforce to meet demand. ECG Cloud is also licensed to third-party healthcare providers, including the screening company LifeLine, which performs as many as 6,000 ECGs each month.

Cardiologists are finding the new platform more efficient to use. John Coltart, the Harley Street cardiologist uses ECG Cloud to report on more than 50,000 ECGs each year, has been using a beta version of the software for the past several months. He stated recently “ECG Cloud Mobile has been extraordinarily useful to us. We can now interpret ECGs without a dedicated computer anywhere we want. We can move around the ECG waveform naturally and zoom with a pinch, and it let’s us show patients their results in clearer, easier to understand ways.”

ECG Cloud is based around a structured reporting protocol developed with the aid of leaders in cardiology to establish standardised, highly accurate, and repeatable diagnoses.

The platform allows primary care to outsource key analysis, reducing referrals to secondary care while keeping quality high and lowering costs. The licensed version of the software has also helped over 60 secondary care hospitals create efficient ECG repositories and utilise their cardiologists’ time better.

Mark Hashemi, managing director of Technomed, believes the future of medical devices will be in connectivity, stating “Every day more mobile devices like tablets, iPads, are being used in hospitals and practices. We want to be at the cutting edge of telemedicine, helping healthcare providers get the most out of the the latest technology. ECG Cloud Mobile improves patient care and saves money in both primary and secondary care use cases, and the users love working with new technology.”

ECG Cloud won the ‘Innovator of the Year’ award in 2012 for improving the ECG acquisition and reporting process in the NHS and is currently used by over 200 organisations across the UK to improve patient care and reduce referrals without sacrificing speed or quality of treatment.
