MED Homogeneity Testing for Edible Products Begins July 14, 2014

Denver, Colorado / ACCESSWIRE / July 14, 2014 / As the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED) continues to roll out their testing requirements for infused edibles and other products, the CannLabs (OTCQB: CANL) laboratory team is poised and ready to assist.  The newest requirement which goes into effect on Monday, July 14th requires Retail Manufacturers of Infused Products (MIPs) to submit an additional test sample from each production batch being provided to a Retail Marijuana Testing Facility for the purposes of performing homogeneity testing.

The ruling (MED Rule R 1503 A, D & E ) states that no more than 20% of the total THC may be located within 10% of the entire product.  Homogeneity is a statistical practice that makes the assumption that the statistical properties of any one part of an overall dataset are the same as any other part.  Basically, resellers will need to submit two separate samples of each product to be tested so that an independent testing laboratory, such as CannLabs, can ensure any edibles meet the state requirements for THC homogeneity.

CannLabs’ Laboratory Director, Heather Despres commented; “We are prepared and ready to support our clients with this new process.  We’ve increased our team and our proprietary customized work-flow software will allow us to manage the added data content easily without any delays to our most important asset—our customers.  We’re here to ensure that all state guidelines are met and consumers are safe, while minimizing cost and delays to the manufacturers and dispensaries.”
