Innovative mobile app technology that will assist rehabilitation providers, other clinicians, policy makers, patients with secondary (acquired) cognitive disabilities and their family members. This innovative technology will be designed and developed by a collaborative group of clinicians, software developers, engineers, patients and their caregivers. They will help restore the lives of others by providing both knowledge and training on how to effectively use this app. This project will enhance the therapy outcome, efficiency, and the transition to self-management, and independent home exercise programs (HEP). This technology will increase the patients’ functional capacity in performing basic activities of daily living; and, restore the quality of life they deserve while remaining in the comfort of their home and community.
The anticipated outcome of this project is to successfully develop, and market a very effective and user friendly mobile application that has different key functions: training, home coaching assist, health/medication, and commute. The functions of the application will be developed based on the input of clinicians and focus groups through well accepted evidence based as well as best practices of rehabilitation professionals. The application is projected to help over 10 million Americans nation-wide by 2018.
