SAN CLEMENTE, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 18, 2014 / Monster Arts, Inc. (OTCQB: APPZ), a leading mobile marketing and app technology innovator, announced today that it has completed development of, and has delivered to its clients, Union Supply Group, Inc. and Union Supply Media (USM), the User Interface App and related AppStore for a new generation of custom tablets designed specifically for use inside state and federal correctional facilities. Currently, these tablets, which run a secure proprietary version of the Android OS and Monster Arts' built-in and embedded Interface, are already approved for use and in the hands of inmates in several state prison systems, and give inmates access to pre-selected content, including music, videos, books, games, lifestyle and educational apps, in this way enabling inmates to purchase and obtain “digital goods” through their authorized use of tablets and other mobile devices.

In addition to the secure version of the Android OS, there are other custom sub-applications written and designed by Monster Arts for USM as part of this project, each including patent pending technologies that allow all media content to be securely transferred to only the specific tablet being used as part of the inmate’s purchase transaction. USM, itself, is quite pleased with the end product, recently stating, for example, that Monster Art's approach with respect to the custom tablet’s movie purchase options "hit it out of the park."

Presently, correctional facilities in several states already allow the inmates to order media content via the existing inmate-only land phones and utilizing USM's systems that debit each inmate user’s pre-funded account balances. However, because inmates cannot currently place an order for media content by selecting content and paying for it in one transaction and in real time, the new tablet, enhanced by, the Monster Arts’ User Interface App and based on Monster Arts' own App Hysteria(r) technology and other proprietary applications, represents a significant improvement on existing products and technology. More specifically, to facilitate the user ordering process via the USM System, USM can now utilize the Monster Arts’ designed app technology to deploy a media content catalog and wish list management application on each user inmate’s tablet. Inmates will use this Android app, called “U/Shop”, to search for content and to compile and add to their wish lists so that the actual ordering process on each tablet is more efficient and user friendly. In addition, inmates using U/Shop will soon be able to track their media account purchase credits and content orders in an easy to use, self-managed model.

Monster Arts sees a great potential and societal value in helping to create a mobile technology informational and e-commerce system that will assist inmates with acquiring educational and entertainment tools via a smart tablet. According to the most recent annual Correctional Populations Survey, adult correctional authorities supervised or housed about 6,977,700 inmates as of year-end 2011, which translates into about 2.9% of adults in the U.S. (or 1 in every 34 adults). In the U.S., incarceration is one of the main forms of punishmentrehabilitation, or both, for persons who commit felonies or other offenses.

"We see this relationship as a way of getting our suite of apps, causal games, and utility resource apps into the hands of individuals that can truly benefit from their usage," commented Monster Arts CEO Wayne Irving II. "This deal represents an important accomplishment for our business development efforts, and we are excited to launch this project under the Monster Arts development team umbrella. I personally believe that helping to incorporate mobile technology into the prison system can become a powerful tool for our legal system, and more generally for society, as we attempt to achieve the overall goal and objective of inmate rehabilitation. In addition, we see applications for similar products on the horizon for other user-groups and organizations, such as schools, universities and the military, to name just a few."

Irving went on to point out the larger implications that this new product may have for prisoner-related purchases and commercial transactions, observing that "one existing constraint that all vendors to these prison populations must contend with is that each inmate is limited to something like 15 lbs of durable goods purchasing power per quarter. By opening up the digital doors for downloading 'weight-free' entertainment and educational media content, the 15lb barrier and associated glass ceiling for revenues per quarter barrier has now been broken, with what could well be monumental positive impacts for companies that develop and provide content like ours."
